Feel Privileged Being A Woman: Know Your Exam Quota

Be it any sphere of life, women are surely trying to make their mark in this world. By that as it may, there are a number of woman who are actually trying to be a part of our country’s system.

For example, Aruna Sundararajan, a Kerala cadre IAS officer played an important role in the development of e-governance in Kerala. Similarly, Shantha Sheela Nair is a famous woman administrator known for her role in the Chennai Water Crisis  in the early 2000’s. She made rain water harvesting compulsory through drainage tank and dedicated pipes.

Also, Arundhati Bhattacharya was listed as the 25th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes. She is the first woman who became the Chairman of State Bank of India, a prestigious banking firm of the country. Looking at such prominent female leaders, more and more women are applying for posts by taking various exams such as IAS, SSC, CHSL and others.

Considering the importance of a woman in any sphere the government has also included special rules in exam granting privileges to them. These have been built to inculcate more and more women into the system. Here are a few such benefits offered to woman under various exams:

Fees

Woman candidates applying for competitive exams conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC – IAS, AC ), as well as Staff Selection Commission (SSC) don’t have to pay fee while applying for central government jobs.

Age Limit

Usually age limit for applying for most government jobs is between 20 to 30 years. Regrettably, no upper age limit is provided to woman under general category. At the same time,  divorced/separated/widowed woman get a sigh of relief with an upper age limit  relaxation between 3 to 9 years.

Also, with the women empowerment programs started by our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi there are many government job openings demanding the requirement for women. Certainly, we can conclude that women have gained a special place in our society, and would continue to do so.
