SBI PO 2016 Online Registration Open New Exam Pattern

SBI PO 2016: Surprising all Banking Aspirants, the State Bank of India has officially marked the opening of online application process for SBI PO 2016. Interested candidates can now fill in the application form and submit on SBI Website. From today onwards, SBI aspirants can start applying for SBI PO Prelims Examination from the portal ( as the application process is online. Over 2200 PO Vacancy will be filled for State Bank of India through SBI PO 2016 Recruitment Examination.

As per SBI PO Notification 2016, there is a predefine set of rules and criteria which each applicant must qualify in order to appear for the recruitment examination. But first, make a good note of the important dates associated with SBI PO 2016.

SBI PO 2016 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for SBI PO 2016 Recruitment Examination has been clearly specified in the notification released by the State Bank of India. It is extremely important to be familiar with Eligibility Criteria for SBI PO before you begin the application process. Failure to do so will deem the candidate ineligible for SBI PO 2016 Examination.

SBI PO Eligibility Criteria 2016 consists of a set of requirements and clauses in terms of Age, Educational Qualification and Nationality. Let us have a look at it.

Nationality: As per SBI directives, the Nationality of the Candidate must be an Indian.

Age Limit: In order to be eligible, a candidate must be between the age of 21 to 30 Years. The age reckoning date has been updated to 1.4. 2016 (1 April 2016) by the State Bank of India.

The relaxation in the upper age limit has been applied according to government norms. They are as follows

  • SC/ ST: 5 Years
  • OBC: 3 Years
  • PH: 10 Years
  • PH + OBC: 13 Years
  • PH + SC/ST: 15 Years

Minimum Educational Qualification: A candidate must possess atleast a Bachelors Degree from a recognized college or university recognized the Central Government.

SBI PO 2016 Selection Procedure

The Selection Procedure for SBI PO will be different this year. The overall selection procedure will be 3 Tier involving a Preliminary and Mains Written Examination.

  1. SBI PO Preliminary Examination
  2. SBI PO Mains Examination
  3. Group Discussion & Interview

The exam pattern has changed for SBI PO Mains, which we have mentioned in detail in our previous article. We will be providing brief information regarding each level of selection.


Level 1: SBI PO Prelims Exam (Objective) 

This will be the first level of screening for SBI candidates. An objective examination will be conducted carrying 100 marks, 1 mark per questions with 3 subjects – Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English.

Total time for solving this paper will be 1 Hour (60 minutes). SBI PO Prelims is only qualifying in nature.


Level 2: SBI PO Mains Exam (Objective & Descriptive) 

This level consists of an Objective and Descriptive Examination. The Objective Exam will carry 200 marks and 155 questions will be asked. The total number of questions and the marks carried by each section in SBI PO Mains is as follows.

After this 3 Hour Paper, an SBI PO Aspirant also has to attempt a descriptive paper online. The Descriptive Paper will be a Test of your writing skills, particularly Letter Writing & Essay. The total time for solving descriptive paper is 30 minutes and it carries 25 marks.


Level 3: Group Discussion & Interview

The Final Round consists of Group Discussion and Interview of Shortlisted Candidates carrying 20 marks and 30 marks respectively. The final merit list will be prepared keeping in mind the scores of SBI PO Mains, Group Discussion and Interview.
