- Service Tax
The work of a Tax Assistant will comprise mostly of clerical work. The major task assigned to a Tax Assistant in CBEC will be to properly dispatch and prepare reports for the department he/ she gets posted in, which can be Excise, Service Tax and Customs.

Your first promotion will take atleast 8-10 years, after which, your G.P. will be Rs. 4200 and you will become a Senior Tax Assistant, or commonly referred to as Executive Assistant. The next promotion can be achieved 3 to 4 years after that, which will be an Excise Inspector, A Group-B Gazetted Post. You career can follow this path in CBEC.
