Also, these events would begin with global and local conversations starting from 70th World Health Day being celebrated on 7th April 2018.
Q. Why Does Universal Health Coverage Matter ?
Ans: According to WHO, “countries that invest in UHC make a sound investment in their human capital”. By that as it may, WHO believes that availability of financial protection and quality care enhances the health & life expectancy of individuals. At the same time, it also enables countries to protect themselves against epidemics, poverty and risk of hunger. Also, UHC helps to create more jobs, drive economic growth, and increase gender equality.
Q. What Would Be The Impact Of World Health Day 2018 ?
Ans: Many countries are progressing towards their goals laid in SDG. However, according to WHO there is still a shortfall of reaching to 1 billion people by 2023 to reach the SDG goals. For the same reason, World Health Day 2018 would be celebrated to share a spotlight on UHC & its advantages. On this day, WHO and its member country partners will share examples of steps to take to reach their SDG goals. This would be done via a series of conversations and events at multiple levels.
Q. How Will World Health Organization Inspire, Motivate And Guide UHC Stakeholders ?
Ans: The World Health Organization aims to lead their UHC stakeholders in a three step process:
Inspire: WHO intends to inspire UHC stakeholders by highlighting all powers of policy makers to transform health of nation.Additionally, WHO will also inspire by framing the challenge as ambitious and exciting & by inviting them to be part of change.
Motivate: WHO will motivate by sharing examples of countries who are progressing towards UHC goals. At the same time, WHO will also encourage other member countries to find their own right path for reaching their goals.
Guide: WHO would provide guidance through tools for structuring policy dialogue. This would be based on the concept of advancing UHC domestically or supporting such efforts in other nations. A few such tools include improving service quality, expanding service coverage, reducing payment made out-of-pocket, etc.
