The State Bank of India has introduced some major changes this year in SBI PO Exam Pattern. Changes in SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern 2018

This year, SBI has introduced the sectional timing factor in SBI Clerk Prelims exam pattern. Check out the new exam pattern.

SBI PO 2018 New Exam Pattern

The State Bank of India has introduced some major changes this year in SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern. This Year SBI has Introduced has major pattern changes in it, i.e., sectional timings (20 minutes for each section) for the three different sections (English, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude)

Tier I: Preliminary examination

Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Test for 100 marks will be conducted online. The test will have 3 Sections (with separate timings for each section) as follows:

Some highlights of the changes made in the exam pattern are given below:

  • Each section of the Prelims exam will now have a separate time slot (20 Minutes each).
  • Also, there will not be any sectional or overall cut-off.
  • An adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by the Bank will be shortlisted for the Mains Exam from the list of all candidates arranged in descending order of aggregate marks scored.

Tier II: Mains Examination

Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks.Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. The pattern of Mains Objective Exam will be MCQ based. There will be 4  sections: Reasoning & Computer Knowledge, English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation and General/Economy/Banking Awareness. Each section will have separate time slots for each paper of the Mains examination. Let us formulate SBI PO Mains pattern in the table below:

There will be a penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score.

Directly after SBI PO Mains written examination, Descriptive Test will be administered. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive test by typing on the computer.

The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.

Note: Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in objective test.

Tier III: Group Exercises & Interview

The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category. An adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank will be called for Group Exercises (20 marks) and Interview (30 marks). The qualifying marks in Group Exercises & Interview will be decided by the Bank.

NOTE: Number Of Students Qualifying For Mains Will be Half as Compared to Last Year i.e only 10% candidates will be qualified for mains.
