Overview of UPSC IAS and MPPSC State Services

UPSC IAS: The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a national competitive exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various Civil Services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service (UPSC IAS). It is one of the most esteemed and toughest exams in the country, with a success rate of less than 0.01 per cent.

MPPSC State Services: The state services exam conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission is a state-level exam for recruitment to various administrative level posts in the state government.  Around 3 lakh 20 thousand candidates appeared for the exam in 2020 for 235 posts making it more challenging and competitive.

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • The candidate must hold a degree in any discipline from a recognised university or equivalent qualification recognised by the central government.

Uniformed Post 21-33 Years
  • Age relaxation is available for the reserved category candidates.

UPSC Civil Services Examination

To be eligible for the UPSC Civil Services Exam, candidates must fulfil the following criteria.

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
  • The candidate must be at least 21 years of age and not more than 32 years as on 01 August 2021.

MPPSC State Services Examination

(1) The preliminary exam consists of 2 papers:

Paper I General Studies 2 hours 200 marks
Paper II General Aptitude Test 2 hours 200 marks

Points to be noted:

  • The question paper for both the exams in prelims will be bilingual i.e. Hindi and English.
  • The preliminary exam serves as a screening test for mains.

(2) The candidates who clear the prelims test are called out for the mains. The exam pattern for MPPSC mains is as follows.
