How to Attempt JSSC CGL Prelims 2016
As discussed earlier, there are a total of 6 sections in JSSC CGL Preliminary Examination. To ensure better performance in the written examination, here are a few section-wise preparation tips on how to attempt JSSC CGL Prelims.
General Studies is the highest scoring part of JSSC CGSCE Preliminary Exam. It contains 40 questions based on Geography, Polity, History and current affairs (both static and dynamic).
Now, most of the questions in this part will be factual and there is very good chance that people might not be able to score good if they attempt this paper in the last minutes of the examination.
Hence, attempt general studies before any other section. As far as time allotment goes, you can spend around 25 to 30 minutes for this section. Spending more than 30 minutes will jeopardize the output of remaining sections. Read all the questions carefully and try to attempt as many questions as you can. Leave a question immediately if you are clueless about it. However, a lot of questions can be solved by the process of elimination.
Jharkhand General Knowledge
Another scoring part of this examination is Jharkhand G.K. There will be a total of 30 questions. Attempt this section right after General Studies because people who are reluctant to attempt this section till the end loses on a lot of easy pickings.
Also, when done, leave nothing for later. You will not get a second round or a second chance to visit this paper given the number of questions and the time allotted. Spend around 15-20 minutes on this section.
Do not over extend even if you have a gut feel that you can find the correct answers for leftover questions.
This section is the trickiest part of this exam. Selection of question is of prime importance here. Some of the questions, despite being solvable are highly tricky and they eat up a lot of time. Avoid such questions.
It has 20 questions and a whole lot of aspirants can solve more than 17 questions given sufficient time. But that’s the trick you are not supposed to solve all the questions even though you can. Set a time frame and solve as many questions as you can. You can spend 30-35 minutes in this part.
There is no sectional cutoff in this examination so yes you can afford to spend 40-45 minutes if you can use the time wisely. Make sure you don’t miss out on easy pickings from other sections.
There are 20 questions from General Science and they are all relatively easy especially for someone with science background.
A good look at NCERT books of 8th to 10th Standard is sufficient to score good in this section. General science is more like “Cricket”, your shot selection decides your score. Do not over think any question, answer what you know and leave the remaining.
Do not spend more that 10-15 minutes on this. Read questions carefully, if you know it answer it, if you don’t then move on to the next question.
Mental Ability and Computer Knowledge
There are 20 questions each from Mental Ability and Computer Knowledge. looking at the previous papers one can easily conclude that the questions are very direct and easier than one can expect.
Attempt this section in the last as it may not require much of your attention. All the Best for the upcoming Jharkand SSC CGL Examination.
