CTET 2016: How to get a Job?
Here is the thing, like every other job, getting appointed as a teacher was a two stage process back in the day. But teaching as a profession was never too attractive for masses; subsequently due to lack of competition (and of course the lower pay grade) the quality of teachers in our country was not very good.
The Indian Government, in order to improve this scenario did two things, one was to increase the pay scale of teacher followed by a mandate that teachers appointed after March 2012 in any CBSE school has to be CTET qualified.
Now, there are more than 18,000 CBSE affiliated schools in the country and all of them have to follow this mandate to hire teachers with CTET qualification only.
Once you pass the CTET exam, you are eligible to apply for primary teachers and TGT posts in Central Government Schools such as Army Schools, Central CBSE Schools/KVS, and Navodaya Samithi Schools.
Now, when we talk about Central schools and Navodaya Schools, there are not more than 6000 jobs in 1300 Central schools and 961 Navodaya Schools every year. Every year around approximately 100000 aspirants qualify CTET, and hence the competition these days is high.
