IBPS PO Prelims will be qualifying in nature. This means that marks secured in Preliminary Examination will not be considered while making the Final Merit List. But, a candidate needs to score well in order to move to next level, which is IBPS PO Mains.
Tier II: IBPS PO Mains 2016
The pattern of Mains Examination will be Objective MCQ based. There will be 5 sections – Reasoning, English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge.

Now, talking about the major exam pattern change in IBPS PO Mains, each section will be separately timed for the written examination. So, the candidates need to attempt as per time allotted to each section.

Reasoning Ability | 50 | 40 |
English Language | 40 | 30 |
Quantitative Aptitude | 50 | 40 |
General Awareness (related Banking) | 40 | 20 |
Computer Knowledge | 20 | 10 |
Total | 200 | 140 minutes |
Some of the essential details related to IBPS PO Mains 2016 are as follows.

- Each section will be timed separately.
- The Paper mode will be English/ Hindi.
- Each question carries 1 mark.

- There will be sectional and overall cutoff.
This sudden change in pattern makes the exam more challenging as a candidate can only devote designated time to each section.
