IBPS PO Exam Analysis 27 October 2016
Before we begin our detailed exam review of IBPS PO Prelims, we would like to list out the exam pattern for the first time readers.
The IBPS PO Prelims Exam had 3 sections i.e. English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning. There are a total of 100 questions carrying 1 mark each.

The total duration for all the three papers is 1 hour. Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS.
Following the trend, IBPS PO Prelims has been maintaining an overall Moderate Difficulty Level. Owing to the level of competition, it was evident that a rather challenging paper is the best way to shortlist the most deserving ones.
IBPS PO Exam Analysis for Reasoning Ability
- Level of Difficulty: Moderate
- Good Attempts: 21-23
- Optimal Time: 20 Minutes
IBPS PO Reasoning Section has been maintaining a moderate difficulty level throughout the examination.
- Syllogism (3 sentence based) – 5 Questions
- Inequality – 5 Questions
- Complex Arrangement/ Sitting Arrangement – 10 Questions (3 sets)
- Puzzles – 5 Questions
- Miscellaneous – 5 Questions
Again, No questions on Coding-Decoding asked.
IBPS PO Exam Analysis for Quantitative Aptitude
- Level of Difficulty: Easy
- Good Attempts: 18-20
- Optimal Time: 25 Minutes
Being Day 3 of IBPS PO Prelims 2016, the quant section has eased up with a mixed bag of questions ranging from Easy to Moderate. A number of questions of series could be solved only if you have had good amount of practice.
- Data Interpretation– 10 Questions
- Quadratic Equation – 5 Questions
- Series – 5 Questions
- Approximation – 5 Questions
- Miscellaneous – 5 Questions
As we have entered the final day, DI section was quite easy to solve and hence most scoring.
IBPS PO Exam Analysis for English Language

- Good Attempts: 11-13
- Optimal Time: 15 Minutes
The level of difficulty has gone up again for English Language section. This time, most questions were challenging and candidates considered concentrating on their strongest sections only.

- Spotting the Error – 10 Questions
- Parajumbles – 5 Questions
