NIACL Assistant Prelims Exam Analysis (Shift 1): 8th September 2018

Before we begin our paper review, let’s get some basics out first. As we all know, the exam was composed of 3 sections i.e. Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and English Language. The exam pattern in details is as follows.

Section No.of Qs Marks Time

Reasoning 35 35 20 mins
Quant 35 35 20 min
TOTAL 100 100 60 mins

The exam held yesterday had an overall difficulty level of Easy to Moderate. We proceed further into detailed NIACL Assistant Exam Analysis with Prelims section-wise paper review of each topic asked.

NIACL Assistant Prelims Exam Analysis: English Language Section

  • Good Attempts: 23-24 Questions
  • Level of Difficulty: Easy

Beginning our paper review with English Section, this was a major confidence booster this year. The English Section in NIACL Exam comprised on 3 topics – Cloze Test, Errors and Reading Comprehension, with equal number of questions (10 each).

Name of Topic Number of Questions
Reading Comprehension 7
Spelling 6
Error Spotting 5
Sentence Rearrangement 5
Single Fillers 6
Total 30

The level of this section was quite easy and most questions could be attempted on time. A number of candidates struggled while solving questions based on Reading Comprehension but this time, simple skimming techniques proved adequate enough.

NIACL Assistant Prelims Exam Analysis: Reasoning Ability Section

  • Good Attempts: 27-29 Questions
  • Level of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Turning the level of difficulty up a notch, the reasoning section in NIACL Assistant Prelims Examination was a little confusing. The section was predominantly filled with questions based on Puzzles.

Name of Topic Number of Questions
Inequality 5
Seating Arrangement & Puzzles 10
Alpha Numeric Symbol Series 5
Data Sufficiency 5
Syllogism 5
Miscellaneous (Blood Relations, Number Based, Alphanumeric Series,) 10

There was a good mixture of Easy to Challenging Questions but a proper inspection would’ve definitely shelled out the ones to solve quickly. Syllogism based questions could be solved quite easily.

NIACL Assistant Prelims Exam Analysis: Quantitative Aptitude Section

  • Good Attempts: 25-27 Questions
  • Level of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

To much surprise, a lot of candidates found the quant section to be quite easy to attempt. The level of difficulty of Quant Section in NIACL Exam was Easy to slightly Moderate. But, there was one catch.

Name of Topic Number of Questions
Data Interpretation 5
Simplification 5
Missing Number Series 5
Quadratic Equations 5
Miscellaneous( SI,CI, Mensuration Speed &Time, Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Averages, Ages, Ratio etc.) 15

Even though DI and Simplification questions were Easy to solve, the overall section was quite lengthy. Hence, proper time management was necessary in order to do well in this section.

We conclude our section-wise NIACL Assistant Exam Analysis for 8th September. The paper was definitely not that hard this year so we can expect the overall cutoff to shoot a bit higher.

Hence based on the above factors,  75-80 will be the safest attempts with minimum 90% accuracy. Always remember that:

“Accuracy is always a better factor than Quantity”
