NICL AO Mains Exam Analysis 2017: The National Insurance Company Limited has culminated the NICL AO Mains (2nd Stage) examination process by conducting the mains exam shift today i.e 2nd July 2017. The said exam lasted for 150 Minutes and the students are now coming out of their respective exam centers.

We will initiate our article introducing the exam structure of NICL AO Mains recruitment paper. NICL AO Mains Examination consisted of Objective Tests for 200 marks and a Descriptive Test for 30 Marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests were online. Candidates answered Descriptive Test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test was administered.

NICL AO Mains Exam Analysis 2017: Quantitative Aptitude (Moderate)
A large part of the paper (15 Questions) was from Data Interpretation. Questions were also asked from topics like Data Sufficiency, Approximation, Number Series, and Probability. Any candidate with a good grasp on the subject could have scored well in the section.
Candidates who appeared for NICL AO Mains Exam describe the difficulty level of Quantitative Aptitude to be Moderate.
A total number of safest attempts in Maths section will be in 24-26 range with accuracy.
NICL AO Mains Exam Analysis 2017: Reasoning (Moderate level)
NICL AO Mains Reasoning section contained 40 questions in total. The board asked the questions from this section to check the hypothetical thinking of the candidates. Candidates who appeared for Exam describes the difficulty level of Reasoning Section to be of moderate level. A major chunk of Reasoning (15 Questions) was from Sitting Arrangements & Puzzles. Questions were also asked from topics like Syllogism, Input-Output, Data Sufficiency etc.
A total number of safest attempts in General Intelligence section will be in 25-27 range with accuracy.
NICL AO Mains Exam Analysis 2017: English Section (Moderate level)
Moving to the English Section, the biggest threats this year in this section were Reading Comprehension and Double Fillers. The RC was riddled with challenging text and para jumbles required precise logic for the accurate application.
Since the other topics like Cloze Test, Spotting Error etc. were not on the easier side either, we expect an attempt of 20-22 questions with good accuracy as an adequate score in this section.
NICL AO Mains Exam Analysis 2017: General Awareness (Easy to Moderate level)
The bulk part of NICL AO Mains General Awareness Section was covered by the Insurance & Banking knowledge topics. Any candidate who was in touch with the news stories (Current Affairs) also attempted well in this section. Candidates who appeared for Exam describe the difficulty level of GK Section to be in the range of easy to moderate level.
A total number of safest attempts in General Awareness section will be in 26-28 range with accuracy.
NICL AO Mains Exam Analysis 2017: Computer Section (Easy to Moderate level)
Similar to the section above, the difficulty level dwindled to a much easier tone in this section. Candidates who appeared for Exam describe the difficulty level of this Section as moderate. A lot of questions were elementary and could be easily attempted and we estimate a good score of about 33-35 questions out of 40.
NICL AO Mains Exam Analysis 2017: Descriptive Paper (Hard level)
Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test was conducted. The Descriptive Test of 30 Minutes duration with 30 marks was a Test of English Language (Essay, Precis, and Comprehension). Candidates answered Descriptive Test by typing on the computer.
Most of the candidates were not able to complete Descriptive exam on time. Candidates who appeared for Exam described the level of Descriptive Section to be the most Difficult. Thus, we can expect a low cut off for the same. The descriptive Paper theme was based on Insurance, which can be expected, being the Insurance Recruitment Examination.
This section involved 3 questions, Essay, Precis, and Comprehension. Following are some of the topics which were asked under Descriptive Test of NICL AO Mains exam 2017.
- The theme of Precis writing was “Sole proprietorship”.
- Essay writing had 3 choices. The theme was Insurance.

- The theme of Comprehension was related to “corporation”.
Stating again, The level of Descriptive Section was the most Difficult. Thus, we can expect a low cut off for the same.
Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score for each section of Objective test separately for shortlisting for the Descriptive Test evaluation/ Interview i.e. Descriptive answer script would be evaluated only in respect of those candidates who qualify the objective test. There will also be separate cut-off marks for the Descriptive Test.
