SBI PO Mains New Exam Pattern: The State Bank of India has definitely surprised a lot of Banking Aspirants by publishing the updated Exam Pattern for SBI PO Examination in advance. Soon after this information, SBI released the official notification for the recruitment of Probationary Officers. Are you preparing for SBI PO 2016? SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern 2016

The pattern of SBI PO Preliminary Examination will be objective. There will be 3 sections in total – Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language and the exam will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Each question carries 1 mark and the prelims exam has 100 questions. The Total time for solving this paper will be 1 Hour (60 minutes).

SBI PO Prelims will be qualifying in nature, which means, while creating the final merit list, marks secured in SBI PO Prelims will not be considered. But, in order to qualify for SBI PO Mains Exam, you need to qualify in Prelims First.


SBI PO 2016 Mains Exam Pattern Changed   

The Recruitment Examination for Probationary Officers to various SBI Branches is considered as one of the central banking exams of the country. Every Year, a number of banking aspirants apply for SBI PO Recruitment Examination and the competition level of only escalated further beyond.

The Selection Procedure for SBI PO involves a Preliminary and Mains Examination. SBI PO Mains 2016 will consist of both objective and descriptive papers. The changes in SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern are as follows.


Pattern Change #1 – Total Time for SBI PO Mains Examination 

Previously, the total time for solving objective paper of SBI PO Exam was 2 Hours. But, as per the new exam pattern, the total time for SBI PO Mains has been extended to 3 Hours.

The total number of questions and the marks carried by each section in SBI PO Mains is as follows.

Pattern Change #2 – Section-Wise Time Allotment for SBI PO Mains  

For SBI PO 2016, there will also be sectional limit on each of the sectional objective paper. The exam will be conducted online and each section has a timer.

This greatly changes the mode of preparation for a lot of SBI PO aspirants who previously relied on scoring well in a particular section. Now, with the time limitation, this task has been made cumbersome.


Pattern Change #3 – SBI PO 2016 Descriptive Paper

After the 3 Hour Paper, an SBI PO Aspirant also has to attempt a descriptive paper online. The Descriptive Paper will be a Test of your writing skills, particularly Letter Writing & Essay. The total time for solving descriptive paper is 30 minutes and it carries 25 marks.


SBI PO Mains 2016: New Exam Pattern 

To sum up, the most important things to remember regarding the change in exam pattern of SBI PO 2016 are

  • There will be 2 Written Papers – Prelims and Mains
  • The Exam Pattern for SBI PO Prelims remains unchanged. 100 Objective Questions based on Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English with 1 Hour Total Time to solve.
  • SBI PO Prelims 2016 is only qualifying in nature. Hence, marks secured in Prelims will not be considered while creating final merit list.
  • SBI PO Mains 2016 will consist of objective and subjective papers, where the objective papers will carry 200 marks and descriptive will carry 25 marks.
  • Time allotted to solve objective paper will be 3 Hours and a total time of 30 minutes will be allotted to descriptive paper.
  • Both type of papers for SBI PO 2016 Mains will be conducted online.

Apart from this. SBI PO candidates must also remember that the descriptive paper of the candidates will be evaluated only if they score well. Hence, the competition level will be of a different level this year.

  1. Sir/ Mam, do we have to complete all 155 questions in main exam ? What happens if i attempt only those questions which i know?

  2. reasoning and computers will b asked in single section… what would be the ratio of both the sections?
    kindly provide some sample papers for the mains…that would be helpful

  3. There are total 155 question but the total marks is 200!So,please explain briefly the distribution of marks?And each question carries how many marks?Wheather there is also 2 or 3 marks question or not!
