SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis, Review: 29 April 2017 (Shift 4)

SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis 2017: The State Bank of India held the preliminary examination for the post of Probationary Officer today. State Bank of India has culminated the prelims exam stage for the day by conducting the last shift today i.e 29 April 2017.

In an attempt to provide clarity to all the candidates about their performance, we now begin our SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis for the last shift. Here we go!!

SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis: 29 April 2017

As we all know, the exam was composed of 3 sections i.e. Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and English Language. The exam pattern in details is as follows.

Section Name Number of Questions Maximum Marks
English Language 30 30
Numerical Ability 35 35
Reasoning Ability 35 35
Total 100 100

The total time was 1 hour i.e. 60 minutes. Hence, Speed, Accuracy and Planning is surely needed to have good number of attempts with maximum accuracy.

THE OVERALL DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF SBI PO Prelims Exam (Shift-IV) was Moderate. Let us dig a bit deeper and understand the construct of the paper section-wise.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis for English Language Section

  • Good Attempts: 23-25 Questions
  • Level of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Beginning our paper review with English Section, this section was quite easily solvable. The English Section in SBI PO Prelims Paper (Shift 4 ) could be broadly divided into 3 sections – Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test and Spotting errors, with 10 questions each.

Name of the Topic No. of Qs
Reading Comprehension 10
Cloze test 10
Spotting Errors 10
Total 30

Cloze test questions were different from previous exam pattern, the blanks were already filled. Spotting error questions were the easiest to solve, followed by Cloze Test and then Reading Comprehension in terms of difficulty level escalating. We expect most candidates to do well in this section.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis for Reasoning Ability Section

  • Good Attempts: 19-21 Questions
  • Level of Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult

Turning our attention towards Reasoning Ability, this section was a surprise for a lot of candidates. A lot of difficult puzzles were added this year in the mix and a number of candidates were not able to identify those.

Name of the Topic No. of Qs
Puzzles (Floor based, linear arrangement, etc.) 20
Blood Relation & Direction Sense 5
Coded Inequalities 5
Miscellaneous 5
Total 35

While questions based on Inequalities, Direction Sense & Blood relation questions were quite easy, questions from Puzzles and Seating Arrangement cause a lot of confusion.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis for Quantitative Aptitude Section

  • Good Attempts: 22-24 Questions
  • Level of Difficulty: Moderate

A lot of candidates found the Maths section to be quite moderate to attempt. The level of difficulty of Quant Section in SBI PO Prelims (Slot 4) was slightly Moderate.

Name of the Topic No. of Qs
Series 5
Data Interpretation (Table & Bar Graph) 10
Inequalities 5
Approximation 5
Miscellaneous 10
Total 35

Apart from Miscellaneous Questions being a bit lengthy, most of the quant paper could be solved with ease.
