SBI PO Previous Year Exam Analysis 2017

Before beginning our exam review of SBI PO Prelims, let us talk about the basic exam pattern. The Written Examination consisted of 100 Questions were divided into 3 sections i.e Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude.

Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude Section consisted of 35 Questions, English Section consist of 30 Questions. There was a 0.25 negative marking for every wrong attempt.

THE OVERALL DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF SBI PO Prelims Exam (Overall) was Moderate. Let us dig a bit deeper and understand the construct of the paper section-wise.

SBI PO Previous Year Analysis 2017: English Language

  • Good Attempts: 23-25 Questions
  • Level of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Beginning our paper review with English Section, this section was quite easily solvable. The English Section in SBI PO Prelims Paper  could be broadly divided into 3 sections – Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test and Spotting errors, with 10 questions each.

Cloze test questions were different from previous exam pattern, the blanks were already filled. Spotting error questions were the easiest to solve, followed by Cloze Test and then Reading Comprehension in terms of difficulty level escalating. We expect most candidates to do well in this section.

SBI PO Previous Year Analysis 2017: Reasoning Ability

  • Good Attempts: 19-21 Questions
  • Level of Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult

Turning our attention towards Reasoning Ability, this section was a surprise for a lot of candidates. A lot of difficult puzzles were added this year in the mix and a number of candidates were not able to identify those.

While questions based on Inequalities, Direction Sense & Blood relation questions were quite easy, questions from Puzzles and Seating Arrangement cause a lot of confusion.

SBI PO Previous Year Analysis 2017: Quantitative Aptitude

  • Good Attempts: 22-24 Questions
  • Level of Difficulty: Moderate 

A lot of candidates found the Maths section to be quite moderate to attempt. The level of difficulty of Quant Section in SBI PO Prelims was slightly Moderate.

Apart from Miscellaneous Questions being a bit lengthy, most of the quant paper could be solved with ease.

What is SBI PO Prelims Expected cut off

The paper had a Moderate Difficulty Level. According to the last year analysis, the cutoff ranged between 48-52 which which can be expected, being the prelims stage level. Candidates are requested to aim high this year.
