SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis 2016: Today, September 7, is Day 11 of the SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination. The SSC CGL is being conducted online for the very first time. Similar to our previous articles, we will be giving an in-depth analysis for the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam held on 7 September 2016.
Here is the Detailed SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis & Paper Review, highlighting the level of difficulty of each section, the supposed number of good attempts and the expected cutoff for 7 September SSC CGL Tier-I.
SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis 2016
The Online Recruitment Paper consisted of the Objective type Questions. As per the revised pattern, the Tier 1 Examination consisted of 100 Questions divided into 4 sections i.e Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness carrying 200 marks in total.

There were significant amount of changes in the level of difficulty of questions in various areas. Let us discuss in detail in section below.
Section-Wise SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis 2016
As explained above, there were 4 sections in SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination (Tier-I). The overall level of difficulty was Moderate, with the majority of questions asked being a bit of a task to solve. But, there were a few easy ones too.
SSC CGL Tier 1 has been changing each day in terms of difficulty level. Most candidates were startled by the Reasoning Section.
SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis: Reasoning Aptitude
Although most candidates found reasoning section Easy but the type of questions changed today. Maximum questions were asked from the following sections:
- Number Series
- Visual Reasoning (Figure Image , Mirror Image, Matrix, Hidden Images) – 5 Qs
- Analogy – 2 Qs
- Classification – 3 Qs
- Rest Miscellaneous – 4 Qs
Candidates having good reasoning knowledge and practice can attempt 20-22 questions easily.
SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis: Quantitative Aptitude
Quantitative Aptitude was Easy to Moderate. Questions were asked mostly from the following topics:
- Number Series – 2 Qs
- Pie Chart/ DI – 5 Qs (Easy)
- Geometry – 4 Qs
- Trigonometry – 3 Qs
- SI & CI
- Profit & Loss
- Percentage
- Speed & Distance
- Average
Candidates having good arithmetic knowledge and practice can attempt 16-18 questions easily.
SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis: English Language
The English Language section was Easy to Moderate. Maximum questions were asked from the following sections:
- Reading Comprehension – 5 Qs (Easy)
- Antonym & Synonym – 3 /4 Qs (Easy)
- Idiom/phrases – 3 Qs (Moderate)
- Spelling Correction – 1 Qs (Moderate )
- Sentence Improvement – 3 Qs (Easy)
- One Word Substitution – 3 Qs (Moderate)
- Error Detection – 3 Qs (Easy)
- Fill in the blanks – 3 Qs (Easy)
Most of the questions were easy to answer. Topics such as one word substitution, idioms/ phrase and spelling correction were a bit more challenging . Attempting 14-16 questions will be considered as a good attempt.
SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis: General Awareness
Contrary to most days, the level of difficulty was Moderate for GA Section. The topic wise distribution is as follows:
- History – 2 Qs
- Polity
- Geography – 2 Qs
- Economics
- Current Affairs – 1-2 Qs
- General Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) – 6-7 Qs
Attempting 14-16 questions will be considered as a good attempt. Most of the questions were related to History and General Science with questions based on Geography also present.

I attempted 78 qus and I’m sure 60+ are correct
And I’m an SC candidate

You will clear the cut off if the data mentioned is correct. Cut off for SC category will fall somewhere between 80-90.

Number of Attempts are satisfactory, you might get a chance to write SSC CGL Tier II but ensure that you give your best.

There might be a brief window open during which SSC candidates can submit their objections/ issues regarding the paper.
