SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Analysis 2015: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruits eligible candidates into various government positions by conducting various exams and testing the skills of the candidates. Combined Graduate Level (CGL) is one such examination which use to be conducted every year in two tier, but from 2016 onwards, it has become a three tier process. Only graduate candidates are eligible to apply for this exam.

In 2015, the SSC CGL Tier II exam was conducted on 11th and 12th of April and saw an overwhelming response from the aspirants. To score well in the SSC CGL Tier II Exam 2016 you need to know in great depth about what kind of questions the paper offered last year, what was the difficulty level, how much weightage was given to each section and much more.  Here is the detailed analysis of SSC CGL Tier II Exam, highlighting all the exam related information, the supposed number of good attempts and the expected cutoff for the current year.

 

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Analysis 2015

SSC CGL Tier II exam  comprises of four different papers i.e. Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3 and Paper 4. Not every candidate is required to appear for all 4 papers. The number of papers you appear for depends on the post you have applied for. However, Paper 1 and 2 are compulsory papers and all candidates are required to appear for them.  The Tier II papers will be conducted over two days. Paper 1 and Paper 2 on the first day and Paper 3 and Paper 4 on the second day. All the questions are of multiple choice type.  

Paper I accesses your Quantitative ability while Paper II judges your understanding of the English language. Paper-III is only for those aspirants who have applied for the post of Statistical Investigators Grade II and Compilers. Paper IV is only for those who have applied for the post of Assistant Audit Officer.

Paper-wise/ Section-wise SSC CGL Tier II Exam Analysis 2015

Paper I : Quantitative Abilities

Candidates who appeared for SSC CGL Tier II Exam in 2015 ascribe the difficulty level to be ranging from moderate to difficult. A large part of the paper was from Arithmetic, which covered topics like Ratio/Allegation, Profit & Loss, Averages, Time-Speed-Distance, Time & Work and Percentages. Questions Came from topics like Number System, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration and Trigonometry. Any candidate with a good grasp on the subject could have score well in the section. Few questions from Algebra and Geometry needed some innovative approach, rest of the questions were typical of SSC exam. A single question appeared  in which none of the given options was correct as the question itself was ambiguous. Overall, the paper was less calculative by nature.

Paper – II (English Language & Comprehension)

Paper II was dominated by Grammar and Vocabulary. In Vocabulary, there were questions from topics like Synonyms/Antonyms, One word substitution, Wrongly Spelt Words, Idioms and Sentence Completion. In Grammar section, there were questions on Sentence Improvement, Spot the Error, Sentence Completion, Active – Passive and Narration. Apart from these, there were 4 Reading Comprehension passages – two followed by ten questions each and the other two by five questions each, all direct. Some of the questions on Narration, Reading Comprehension and Spot the Error were tricky.

Paper – III (Statistics)

The study materials or books are available online for this paper are very limited. However, focus on areas like Skewness and Kurtosis, Correlation and Regression, Probability Theory, Time Series Analysis, Sampling Theory, Statistical Inference etc; to do well in the examination. There will be a 0.50 mark deduction from your score for every wrong answer.

Paper – IV (General Knowledge(Finance and Economics))

The section introduced for candidates appear for the post of Assistant Audit Officer in SSC CGL exam as Paper 4 to SSC  CGL Tier II Exam is a new addition to the paper and thus no analysis is available for it.
