SSC CHSL Syllabus Exam Pattern 2016:The Staff Selection Commission has officially released the exam notification for SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination 2016. In the SSC CHSL 2016 notification, SSC has come up with the SSC CHSL 2016 Syllabus and updated SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for the year 2016. SSC CHSL Recruitment Exam is one of the most popular exams of the country which receives overwhelming number of applications every year.

The SSC CHSL 2016 Examination will be conducted in 2017. However, you should start preparing for the SSC CHSL Exam 2016. In this article, we will cover all the relevant information regarding the SSC 2016 CHSL Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2016.


SSC CHSL Exam Pattern and Structure 2016

The SSC CHSL Exam Pattern comprises a written examination containing Three tiers i.e. Tier I, Tier II and Tier III. Candidates appearing for Tier I will have to appear for Computer Based Test (CBT). Tier II will be conducted in Pen and Paper mode (Written Examination) and Tier III of the Examination is a Skill Test / Typing Test which would be of qualifying nature.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier I

The Paper I of SSC CHSL 2016 Exam consists of objective type questions carrying a total of 200 marks. The mode of examination will be computer based test. The total time duration of the paper is 75 Minutes.

SSC CHSL Tier-I Examination will consist of –

  • Objective Type- Multiple choice questions only.
  • The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part-I, III & IV.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier II

SSC CHSL 2016 Tier-II Paper will be a descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in ‘Pen and Paper’ Mode. The total duration of the paper is one hour. This paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of the candidates which is necessary in Government jobs. The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter / Application writing of approximately 150-200 words. Those who will qualify in Tier II will be called for Tier III which is a Typing/Skill test.

SSC CHSL Tier I syllabus paper consists of General intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and General awareness. The SSC CHSL 2016 Syllabus for these four is mentioned below:

SSC CHSL Syllabus: General Intelligence

It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation ,Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/Number Classification, Drawing inferences ,Figural Classification ,Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding , Semantic Series, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de- coding, Other sub-topics, if any Numerical operations.

SSC CHSL Syllabus: English Language

Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting Mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage.

SSC CHSL Syllabus: Quantitative Aptitude

Arithmetic: Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number, Decimal and Fractions, Relationship between numbers Fundamental arithmetical operations: Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time and work. Algebra: Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds (simple problems) and Graphs of Linear Equations. Geometry: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts: Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles. Mensuration: Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base Trigonometry: Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only) Standard Identities like sin20 + Cos20=1 etc., Statistical Charts : Use of Tables and Graphs: Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar- diagram, Pie-chart.

SSC CHSL Syllabus: General Awareness

Questions are designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially 10 pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.

SSC CHSL Syllabus for Tier II

Tier-II Paper of SSC CHSL 2016 will be a descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in ‘Pen and Paper Mode. The total duration of the paper is one hour. The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter / Application writing of approximately 150-200 words. The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English.
