SSC MTS Study Plan 2021: Quantitative Aptitude

Quantitative aptitude forms a significant portion of every competitive exam. The section tests candidates’ numerical ability and mental aptitude through questions based on several topics, ranging from percentages, averages, time and distance, mensuration, data interpretation, and more. Without proper preparation and strategy, the exam section can be pretty difficult. Therefore, it is imperative to understand the basics of quantitative aptitude to score higher marks. There is no sectional cutoff in the exam, and candidates can score higher marks in this section through hard work and practice.

First, candidates must understand their current preparation status and segregate the topics based on difficulty level and their understanding of the topics. Then create a plan as per the list of topics giving more focus on the complex topics.

Just to make you understand, say I am highly confident with percentage related problems. Irrespective of the difficulty level, I know that I would solve the problems quickly in the exam. During my preparation, I also realised that I could solve easy to moderate level questions from TSD (Time, Speed and Distance). And, the moment I see a question from Probability, I feel nauseated. One must understand this level pertaining to one’s preparation to sail through the test without much trouble.

You can either keep a notebook with yourself or create a list of topics on the cell phone or laptop you use for study. Create a list of formulas and tips that you can revisit for quick revision. The list will be beneficial on the exam day to have a glance of the important points. Organise the list into formulas and important tips so that you don’t have to worry about finding the formulas at the last moment. It can be considered an ideal methodology, but reading through the list exactly in the same pattern is mandatory. It is just like the best recommendation for an Aspirant.
