SSC Stenographer Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2016

The Staff Selection Commission will conduct SSC Stenographer 2016 Written Examination on 31 July for the recruitment of Grade C and Grade D Officers. For Stenographer Recruitment 2016, the recruitment process is as follows.

  1. Written Objective Examination
  2. Skill Test
  3. Document Verification

Hence, you need to qualify both written paper as well as skill test in order to be considered for the post of Stenographer. Now let us try and understand SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern for both Written Paper and Skill Test.


SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2016 for Written Paper  


The Written Examination will be Objective MCQ based with the choice of English or Hindi Pattern (except for Part III). There will be 3 sections – General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language. Each Question will carry 1 mark and the total will be 200 questions.

The Written Paper for SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2016 will carry 200 marks in total and the total time to solve the entire written paper will be 120 Minutes (2 Hours). For every negative answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.


SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2016 for Skill Test  

The candidates who qualify in the written paper will move to the next round, which is, Skill Test/ Stenography Test.

For Skill Test, the candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade D. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only.

For Stenographer Grade C

  • 40 minutes (English)
  • 55 Minutes (Hindi)

For Stenographer Grade D

  • 50 minutes (English)
  • 65 minutes (Hindi)

There is no exemption from skill test for any category of candidates. Hence, each candidate needs to perform well in order to crack SSC Stenographer 2016.
