SSC CPO 2021: The staff selection commission (SSC) conducts a national-level test for recruiting candidates into the Central Police Organisation. The candidates shortlisted in the written exams have to undergo a physical standard test (PST) and a physical endurance test (PST) to determine their suitability for the posts. It is mandatory for the candidates applying for Sub-Inspector (Delhi Police) and Assistant Sub-Inspector (CAPF) posts to undergo the physical tests.

Note: Physical endurance test (PET) and physical standard test are of qualifying nature, and no marks are awarded or deducted in the tests.

SSC CPO 2021: Physical Standard Test For SI & ASI

The candidates shortlisted in SSC CPO 2021 need to fulfil the basic eligibility criteria of the physical standard test. Candidates not fulfilling the below conditions will be disqualified from the selection process.

The important aspects of the physical standard set (PST) for SSC CPO Selection for the post of SI and ASI are discussed below:

  • There will be no minimum requirement of chest measurement for female candidates.
  • Relaxation in physical standards, as mentioned above, is provided only after the production of the certificate issued from the competent authority.
  • Those candidates who are declared not qualified in Physical Standards, i.e. height, and chest, may prefer an appeal, if they so desire, to the appellate authority present on the PET ground.
  • The decision of the appellate authority will be final, and no further appeal or representation in this regard will be entertained.
  • PST test is of qualifying nature, and the candidates must clear the exam.
  • Candidates clearing the PST/ PET exam will be promoted to the next stage of the recruitment process- SSC CPO Paper- II.

SSC CPO 2021: Physical Endurance Test (PET) For SI & ASI 

The physical endurance test is conducted to check the candidate’s agility, strength, stamina, and endurance. Candidates have to perform several specified tasks for the Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector posts in the Delhi Police and CAPF. The tasks include race, long jump, high jump, and shot put (male candidates). The tasks specifications are different for male and female candidates.

Physical Endurance Test For Male Candidates

  • 100 meters race in 16 seconds
  • 1.6 Km race in 6.5 minutes
  • Long Jump: 3.65 metres in 3 chances
  • High Jump: 1.2 metres in 3 chances
  • Shot put (16 Lbs): 4.5 metres in 3 chances

Physical Endurance Test For Female Candidates

  • 100 metres race in 18 seconds
  • 800 metres race in 4 minutes
  • Long Jump: 2.7 metres (9 feet) in 3 chances
  • High Jump: 0.9 metres (3 feet) in 3 chances

SSC CPO: Medical Examination

The medical examination is mandatory for every candidate applying for the Sub-Inspector post in Delhi Police and Assistant Sub-Inspector position in CAPF. The examination is performed by a team of specialists appointed by the staff selection commission to check the health profile of the candidates. The job profile of an Assistant Sub-Inspector and Sub-Inspector requires a healthy mind and body. Hence,  the candidates must prepare for the medical exam beforehand.

SSC CPO Eyesight

  • The minimum distant vision as per the standard should be 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye)
  • The minimum near vision as per the standard is N6 (better eye) and N9 (worse eye)
  • The above standard must be without any eye correction (without glasses)
  • A right-handed person has a better right eye, and similarly, a left eye is better for a left-handed person.
  • A high colour vision is ideal for the post of SI and ASI for Delhi Police and CAPF.
  • The candidate must not have a knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in the eyes.
  • The Ministry of Home Affairs has released a detailed notification regarding the candidates with a body tattoo. Candidates can refer to that to check their eligibility.
  • Candidates found unfit can appeal before the medical board for review within 15 days of getting the information.

After qualifying in the written tests, physical tests and medical tests, the SSC candidates have to face a final selection in the form of an obstacle course. Candidates need to pass the obstacle course to be recruited.

  1. Jumping over the vertical board
  2. Holding the rope on jumping from the board
  3. Tarzan swing
  4. Jumping on the horizontal board
  5. Parallel rope
  6. Monkey crawl
  7. Vertical rope

Candidates clearing the obstacle course will have to appear for the document submission. Candidates will be posted as per the decision of the board.
