The Intelligence Bureau is India’s Central Internal Intelligence Agency. It is responsible for countering all forms of terrorism against India and collecting vital intelligence information from within India. The IB is also responsible for carrying out activities that would ensure that intelligence agencies from foreign countries cannot collect information about India’s activities and policies from within India.
The IB works under the ambit of the Ministry of Home Affairs but can report directly to the Prime Minister as well if the need arises. Job Profile of a Security Assistant in IB
A simple 10th pass student can go for this reputed job. Also, the level of paper is very easy. Security Assistant in IB is similar to a police constable but the work in IB is more smooth than the police department. It is the lowest rank of the Bureau. The work is same as of an ACIO but at lower levels. They are posted in the same state only. In districts, they work under the guidance and supervision of ACIO. SA have to gather all information, threats and should have a good connection with locals to gather information. The work includes :
- Maintenance of different registers
- Involves field work
- Communication duty
- Assist the ACIO as and when needed
- Collection of intelligence
- Visiting different offices to deliver communication
Training and Salary
Initial training is quite easier than army but work profile challenges the individual’s mental strength. The initial training happens in Shivpuri, which is mostly running one and a half kilometers, two hours of exercise classes then again exercises.
The second phase of training will be in Delhi, there is almost no physical training only theoretical classes from morning to evening and the best thing is you will be getting the salary of about 20,000 rupees during your training period.
you will get no under table money in this job but in this job, you get 13 months salary instead of 12 just like a CBI Sub Inspector. You will get all government benefits and also risk allowance etc
You will be eligible for taking departmental examinations after giving services to 3 years continuously. Regular promotion is a little bit slow in this department in comparison to others.

- Security Assistant (Grade pay 2000)
- Junior Intelligence Officer II (Grade pay 2400)
- Junior Intelligence Officer I (Grade pay 2800)
- Asst. Central Intelligence Officer II (Grade pay 4600)*
