BPSC prelims admit card 2018 released

Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) issued the admit card for 64th Combined competitive preliminary examination on its official website. The examination will be held on December 16, 2018 between 12 noon to 2pm at 808 examination centres in 35 district headquarters of the state. There will 150 questions from General studies in the examination.

Candidates must bring the admit card to the examination centre. The admit card will be available for download until December 14, 2018. However, candidates should download the admit card at the earliest and should not wait for the last moment.

BPSC 64th Combined Preliminary Service Exam 2018 Vacancies Increased to 1395

BPSC 64th Combined Preliminary Service Examination 2018 vacancies have been increased to 1395 now as the Bihar Public Service Commission has added 140 more vacancies. A total of 133 vacancies have been increased for Block Panchayat Officer post and 7 vacancies for the post of Town Executive Officer.

BPSC Civil Services Exam 2018: Notification released

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the notification for the 64th Combined Preliminary Service examination 2018. The registration process for the prelims will begin today, August 3 and to continue till August 20, 2018. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the official website, bpsc.bih.nic.in.

About Exam

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) conducts and chooses applicants for civil service jobs in the state according to the merits of the candidates and reservation rules. The commission comprises of seven members including its Chairman. Currently, the Chairman of BPSC is Shri Shishir Sinha.

Application Process

1) Log on to the official website, bpsc.bih.nic.in
2) Click on "BPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam 2018"
3) Read the advertisement details very carefully to ensure your eligibility before "Online Application"
4) Click on "Online Application" to fill up the application form online
5) The candidate would be directed to a page where he/she has to click on "Apply Online" (for the first time registration or new registration)/ already registered candidate just need to "Sign In" by using their application
6) number and password sent to their valid e-mail ID/Mobile No. (This is required always for logging in to their account for Form Submission and Admit Card/Call Letter Download)
7) Fill up the application form as per the guidelines and information sought
8)Candidates need to fill up to all required information in "First Screen" tab and click on "SUBMIT" to move next screen.
9) Fill the all details in the application & upload Photo, Signature.
10) Application fee should be paid through Online & then Submit the Form.
11)Take a print out of online application for future use.

The deadline for paying the application fee is 24 August, whereas the last date to submit the online application is 31 August.

Selection Process

To get recruited through Bihar Public Service Commission, candidates need to clear the three stages of the exam which are as follows:

  • BPSC Prelims Exam
  • BPSC Main Exam
  • Interview

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for any post under the BPSC examination would need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Syllabus

Syllabus for the BPSC Preliminary Exam

The syllabus for the BPSC Preliminary exam is the same as that of the previous exams of the BPSC. It covers the aspects of General Science, Polity, Economy, History and the National Movement. The candidates have to go through the syllabus and prepare themselves well because the exam will have the questions of good standard. Here is a detailed syllabus of the BPSC Preliminary exam:

  • General Science (General understanding of science, including matters of everyday observation and experience)
  • Current Affairs of National/International importance
  • History of India and Bihar (General understanding of the subject with the broad aspects of the history of Bihar)
  • Geography of India and Bihar (Questions will relate to physical, social and economic geography of the country including the main features of Indian agricultural and natural resources)
  • General geography and geographical division of Bihar and its major river systems
  • Indian polity (Questions will test knowledge on the country’s political system, panchayati raj, community development and planning in India and Bihar)
  • Indian economy and economy of Bihar post independence
  • Indian Movements and Contribution of Bihar in it (Question will relate to the nature and character of the nineteenth century resurgence, growth of nationalism and attainment of Independence with special reference to Bihar)
  • Questions based on General Mental Ability

Syllabus for the BPSC Mains Exam

1. Syllabus of Hindi
Essay Writing – 30 Marks.
Grammar – 30 Marks.
Sentence Formation – 25Marks.
Others – 15 marks

2. Syllabus of GS Paper 1

  • Modern History of India and Indian culture (History of the country with special reference to Bihar in the middle of nineteenth century, the introduction and expansion of western and technical education, Bihar’s role in the Indian freedom struggle, the Santhal Uprising in Bihar, Birsa movement, Champaran Satyagrah, the Quit India Movement, chief features of Mauryan and Pal art, Patna Qulam painting, Roles of Gandhi, Tagore and Nehru)
  • Current events of national and international importance
  • Statistical analysis, graphs and diagrams ( Questions to test the ability to draw conclusions from statistical, graphical or diagrammatical information and to point out deficiencies, limitations or inconsistencies)


3. Syllabus for GS Paper 2

  • Indian Polity ( Questions based on the political system in India including Bihar)
  • Indian economy and Geography of India (Questions on planning in India and the physical, economic and social geography of India and Bihar)
  • The role and impact of science and technology in the development of India (Questions to test awareness of the role and impact of science and technology in India and Bihar with special reference to applied science)

4. Optional Paper

In Optional Paper, a candidate is required to choose any one subject. This paper will be of 300 marks and it will have a time limit of 3 hours. There are 34 Optional subjects in the Main exam. The syllabus of the Optional Paper will be same as that of the Three- Year Honours Paper of the respective subject of Patna University. Here is the list of the Optional Subjects:

  • Candidates have to qualify in General Hindi. 
  • Questions of General Studies are available in Hindi and English both. 
  • The score will be arrived at by considering the total of 900 marks in GS Paper 1, GS Paper 2 and Optional Paper. 
  • The candidates who are placed suitably in the merit are called for the interview.

BPSC Interview

The candidates who qualify the BPSC Main exam are called for the final stage of the exam i.e. Interview. The interview carries 120 marks.
