About Exam

The Staff Selection Commission will conduct Computer based written examination for the Recruitment of temporary Constables (Executive)-Male and Female in Delhi Police. The Examination is being advertised by SSC based on vacancies intimated by Delhi Police. Application from candidates will be accepted through ON-LINE MODE only.

Exam Fee

  • Mode of payment of fee payable Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only).
  • Fee paid in respect of online applications through SBI Challan/Net banking and any credit and debit cards will be accepted.
  • Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribes and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from paying fee, as per rules/instructions of Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India.
  • Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Vacancies

10% vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen in each category of Constable (Exe.) Male only as per rules. Out of 10% quota meant for Ex-servicemen, 50% of such quota will be reserved for following categories of Ex.-Servicemen;
a) Having served in Special forces/NSG(Special Action Group)or;
b) Having received QI ‘Qualified Instructors” grading in the Commando Course or;
c) Officers from the Navy/Air Force who have worked in specialized Commando type units.
Note:-

1. This reservation of Ex.-serviceman is subject to the outcome of SLP (Civil) No.1980/14—Commissioner of Police, Delhi Vs. Pawan Singh & Ors.

2. The personnel of Central Para Military Forces are not eligible to apply under Ex-Servicemen category.

Selection Process

Delhi Police Constable Selection Process

All the candidates have to first appear in the Physical test after that the written examination that is followed by a written test and then finally the Medical Test. All Stage to Qualify by Candidates are these:-

  • Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PE&MT): It will be scheduled and conducted by Delhi Police region-wise at various places in the country.
  • Written Exam : The Commission (SSC) will conduct Computer based written examination of candidates who have qualified in PE&MT.
  • Medical Examination (DME) and Police Verification (Conduct by Delhi Police)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Male Candidates must possess and carry a valid Driving License for LMV (Motor Cycle/Car) as on the date of PE&MT. Learning Driving License is not acceptable.
  • Valid Driving License (Motor Cycle/Car) which will be checked before conducting the PE&MT

Age Limit

Age limit for the post of Constable (Exe) Male is 18-21 years.
Age limit for the post of Constable (Exe) Female is 18-25 years.

Educational Qualification

ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (at the time of filling of application form):

10+2 (Senior secondary) pass from a recognized Board/University.

Relaxable upto 11th pass only for Bandsmen, buglers, mounted constables, drivers, dispatch riders, etc. of Delhi Police and sons/daughters of Delhi Police Personnel & Multi Tasking Staff (formerly Class-IV employees) of Delhi Police only either in service, retired or deceased.

Note:- Candidates who have not acquired the educational qualification at the time of filling of application form will not be eligible and need not apply.

Delhi Police Constable Computer based Written Examination Syllabus is given below:-
Reasoning : Questions will be asked from analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning.
General Knowledge/Current Affairs: Questions are designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
Numerical Ability : This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.

Job Profile

Delhi Police Constable: Detailed Job Profile

The post carries the designation executive for the constables

Delhi Police Constables are equivalent to the post of any executive in government department. Unlike other constables in different states, Delhi Police Constables can take decisions related to as in cases on their own. Apart from these, they also have to involved in decisions related to case of field duties and patrolling sessions.

By that as it may, the basic job responsibility of a Delhi Police Constable are as following:

On Field Office: The first and foremost responsibility of a Delhi Police Constable is to act as an officer on field. For the same reason they are also called as executive constable. The job involves being alert on the streets and taking prompt and/or quick decisions regarding any incident which has already happened. This is regarded as a very sensitive issue and constables are mainly responsible for making first hand discharge of duty in the field.

Patrolling Streets: The second major and prominent responsibility as a Delhi Police Constable is to ensure safety of the fellow citizens. This job involves looking into matters of the local region and ensuring a peaceful law and order situation. In order to maintain the same situation, constables have to undertake patrolling activities on a frequent and regularly basis in the area allotted to them. This makes the job a field job of a Delhi Police Constable as a field job, however, constables can also be a desk jobs.

Providing Investigative Assistance to ASIs: As a Delhi Police Constable, another important priority is to provide assistance to ASIs during investigation, whensoever required. Due to high rate of crime in Delhi and regional areas, constables have to be on high alert to control the situation as well as provide assistance to ASIs during investigation. Constables provide assistance by accompanying ASIs during raids or victims’ places or to the witnesses, etc

Filing of Reports: Constables working for Delhi Police have to file in reports of all incidents or events or activities. After completion of file, constables have to submit reports to seniors on a daily basis. At times, if constables don’t have enough data or evidence to report in their file, they just have to submit their reports with all the acquired data only. This usually depends on the nature of seriousness or practical approach required in any given situation.
