Recently, The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has issued the notification for Officers (Scale I, II, III) and Assistants in RRBs for the year 2018.  Every year, a huge number of aspirants apply for the IBPS RRB exam from different regions of the country. This exam is conducted at various centers across the whole country.

As of now, IBPS has activated the online application link for the upcoming IBPS Regional Rural Bank examination 2018. 

Candidates can apply online only from 08.06.2018 to 02.07.2018 and no other mode of application will be accepted.

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has finally issued the notification for Officers (Scale I, II, III) and Assistants in RRBs for the year 2018. The Official Notification for IBPS RRB Recruitment 2018 (CRP RRBs VII) will provide all the essential details regarding eligibility criteria, selection procedure as well as educational qualifications.

Application Process

Candidates can apply online only from 08.06.2018 to 02.07.2018 and no other mode of application will be accepted.

How to Apply

  • Candidates are first required to go to the IBPS’s authorised website www.ibps.in
  • Click on the Home Page to open the link “CRP for RRBs” and then click on the appropriate option “CLICK HERE TO APPLY ONLINE FOR CRP- RRBs-OFFICERS (Scale-I, II and III)” or “CLICK HERE TO APPLY ONLINE FOR CRP- RRBs- OFFICE ASSISTANT (Multipurpose)” to open up the On-Line Application Form.
  • Candidates will have to click on “CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION” to register their application by entering their basic information in the online application form.
  • After that a provisional registration number and password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen. Candidate should note down the Provisional registration number and password. An Email & SMS indicating the Provisional Registration number and Password will also be sent. They can reopen the saved data using Provisional registration number and password and edit the particulars, if needed.
  • Candidates are required to upload their photograph and signature as per the specifications given in the Guidelines for Scanning and Upload of Photograph and Signature (Annexure III).
  • Candidates are advised to carefully fill in the online application themselves as no change in any of the data filled in the online application will be possible/ entertained. Prior to submission of the online application candidates are advised to use the “SAVE AND NEXT” facility to verify the details in the online application form and modify the same if required. No change is permitted after clicking on FINAL SUBMIT Button. Visually Impaired candidates are responsible for carefully verifying/ getting the details filled in, in the online application form properly verified and ensuring that the same are correct prior to submission as no change is possible after submission.
    Note: Candidates can apply online only from 24.07.2017 to 14.08.2017 and no other mode of application will be accepted. 

Application Fees/ Intimation Charges Payable from 08.06.2018 to 02.07.2018(Online payment) both dates inclusive, shall be as follows:

Officer (Scale I, II & III) – Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates. – Rs. 600/- for all others
Office Assistant (Multipurpose) – Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD/EXSM candidates. – Rs. 600/- for all others.

Selection Process

There are different selection procedures for different vacancies in IBPS RRB Examination 2017.

Officer Assistant Selection

The post of Office Assistant in Rural Banks is different than an Officer Post. It is a clerk-level post where you are in-charge of documentation, filing etc. Still, IBPS RRB Selection Procedure 2017 for Office Assistant (Multipurpose) Post is a 2-Tier Process. There will be a Prelims & Mains Written Examination for the recruitment to Regional Rural Banks (RRBs).

Officer Scale I

The post of Officer Scale I in Rural Banks is different than an Office Assistant. Unlike Assistant, it is more central towards decision making rather than clerical works.IBPS RRB Selection Procedure 2017 for Officer Scale I Post is a 3-Tier Process. There will be a Prelims & Mains Written Examination for the recruitment to Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), followed by an Interview.

Officer Scale II (General/ Specialist) & Scale III 

IBPS RRB Selection Procedure 2017 for both Scale II & III is a 2-Tier Process. But, unlike the recruitment process for an assistant, there will be a Single Written Examination followed by an Interview for the recruitment to Regional Rural Banks (RRBs).

Age Limit

Here are all the essential details related to IBPS RRB Notification 2017 that you need to know at the moment.

Age Limit (As on 1 July 2018)

According to the dictates of IBPS RRB Eligibility Criteria 2017, the age limitations vary according to the post a candidate is applying for. The age limitations for IBPS RRB Exam are as follows:

Officer Scale I

Above 18 years – Below 30 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.06.1988 and later than 31.05.2000 (both dates inclusive)

Officer Scale-II

Above 21 years - Below 32 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.06.1986 and later than 31.05.1997 (both dates inclusive)

Officer Scale III

Above 21 years - Below 40 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.06.1978 and later than 31.05.1997 (both dates inclusive)

Office Assistant

Between 18 years and 28 years i.e. candidates should have not been born earlier than 02.06.1990 and later than 01.06.2000 (both dates inclusive)

Educational Qualification

The candidate must possess a graduate degree from a recognized University or its equivalent. But, the qualification varies a little for each post which we have elaborated below:

IBPS RRB Office Assistant (Multipurpose)

  • Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent. Proficiency in the local language as prescribed by the participating RRB/s, as well as professional computer skills, are also desirable.
  • No Experience is required for this position.

IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I

  • Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent. Preference will be given to the candidates having a degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics or Accountancy. You must be proficient in the local language as per the norms set by participating RRBs. Computer knowledge or awareness will be desirable.
  • No Experience is required for this position.

Officer Scale-II General Banking Officer

  • Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Preference will be given to the candidates having a degree in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, and Accountancy.
  • Experience: Two years as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution.

IBPS RRB Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers

  • Information Technology Officer: Degree from a recognized University in Electronics / Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP etc will be desirable. Work Experience- 1 year.
  • Chartered Accountant: Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Work Experience- 1 year.
  • Law Officer: Degree from a recognized University in Law or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Work Experience- Two years as an advocate or should have worked as Law Officer in Banks or Financial Institutions for a period not less than two years.
  • Treasury Manager: Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or MBA in Finance from a recognized university/ institution. Work Experience- 1 year.
  • Marketing Officer: MBA in Marketing from a recognized university. Work Experience- 1 year.
  • Agricultural Officer: Degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Dairy/ Animal Husbandry/ Forestry/ Veterinary Science/ Agricultural Engineering/ Pisciculture from a recognized university or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Work Experience- 2 years.

IBPS RRB Officer Scale-III

  • Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Preference will be given to the candidates having Degree/ Diploma in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, and Accountancy.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years experience as an Officer in a Bank or Financial Institutions.

Job Profile

The job profile varies under criterias like scale 1,2 & 3 and also on the designation such as PO, SO and Clerk. For example, job profile of IBPS RRB Officer Scale 1 includes work like:

Regional Rural Banks (RRBs): Undergoing training period, also referred to as the Probation period of Scale 1 officers. After successful completion of this period, employed candidates are recruited as Assistant Manager in the respective banks.

Daily Activities: The daily task of IBPS RRB Officer Scale 1 involves retail banking operations, loan disbursement, monitoring credit portfolio, NPA recovery, audit report preparation etc.

Other Activities: Many a times recruited candidates need to manage single window operations. This would involve activities like checking cash receipts, cash payments/ verification etc.

Key Focus Areas: As an IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Officer, the focus area is mainly on the agricultural and allied fields. The job involves improving the rural economy. For the same reason, and IBPS RRB Scale 1 Officer does regular checks on loan repayment. This is done by the officer to avoid transformation of agriculture loans of their branch into NPA.

FAQs

Q. What posts available under RRB recruitment?

There are two levels of posts available in this recruitment process : Group-“A”-Officers (Scale-I, II & III) and Group “B” Office Assistants (Multi-purpose). Group “A” posts can be considered as correspondent to Probationary Officer and Office Assistants can be considered as correspondent to a Clerk in PSU Banks.

Q. How many vacancies are there in total?

13,000 plus vacancies; out of which Scale-1 Officer vacancies are 5,123 and Office Assistant vacancies 8,298. However, some regional rural banks (RRBs) have not yet reported their vacancies to IBPS. Therefore the vacancies mentioned are indicative and not exhaustive. More vacancies are anticipated as communicated by the RRBs. The provisional allotment will be made based on the actual vacancies reported.

Q. Is the exam bilingual?

All the sections except the Hindi and English Language sections are bilingual. However, candidates can opt between Hindi and English language in all the exams.

Q. Is there a sectional cut off?

Yes. Each candidate is required to obtain a minimum score in each section of the Main examinations of IBPS RRB Office Scale-1 and Office Assistant and in single exams of Officer Scale 2 and 3

Q. Will the exam be conducted online or offline (OMR Based)?

Common Written Exam for RRB is being conducted by IBPS in online mode for both Prelims and Mains exams.

Q. Can a candidate apply for both posts: Officers and Office Assistants?

Yes. But the candidates can only apply for one post in the officer’s cadre. That is, if you’re applying for Officer Scale-1, then you can’t apply for Officer Scale – 2 and 3. However, you can apply for both Officer Scale-1 and Office Assistant Exams. The application process is separate and fee is also paid separately for the posts applied.

Q. How to calculate the Percentage?

The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks in all the subjects irrespective of honors/optional/additional optional subject if any. This will be applicable for those Universities also where Class / Grade is decided on basis of Honours marks only. The fraction of percentage so arrived will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% will be treated as less than 55%.

Q. What are the guidelines for scanning and uploading documents in the application form?

The guidelines for uploading documents is as follows-

Photograph Image: (4.5cm × 3.5cm)

- Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred)

- Size of file should be between 20kb–50 kb

Signature

- The applicant has to sign on white paper with Black Ink pen.

- Size of file should be between 10kb – 20kb for signature and left thumb impression.

- For handwritten declaration size of the file should be 20kb – 50 kb

- Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 20kb or 50 kb (for handwritten declaration)

- Signature / Handwritten declaration in CAPITAL LETTERS shall NOT be accepted.

Q. What is the application fee for RRB 2018 Exam and how can I pay my application fee?

The application fee for RRB 2018 exam is as follows-

Officer (Scale I, II & III)

Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

Rs. 600/- for all others

Office Assistant (Multipurpose)

Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD/EXSM candidates.

Q. If I am from a particular state, can I select a different state to apply?

Yes, you can. If you’re applying for the posts of Officer Scale-1 and Office Assistant, the names of RRBs for giving the order of preference will be available based on the state which you select to apply for. You will however have to select center of exam in that state only.

Q. Can I make changes in the application form after submission?

No. Particulars mentioned in online application will be considered final and no change/modifications will be allowed after submission of the online application form. Hence the application needs to be filled with utmost care.
