“Sankalp Parva” to plant trees to be observed by Ministry of Culture from 28th June to 12 July 2020

The Ministry of Culture has decided to observe Sankalp Parva from 28 June 2020 to 12 July 2020 for planting trees on the call of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Key Points:

  • The ministry has recommended the plantation of five trees identified by the Prime Minister that represent the herbal heritage of India. The five trees include Ashok, Awla, Bargad, Bel and Pepal. Saplings of other plants may be planted if the recommended plants are not available.
  •  The minister of culture Prahlad Singh Patel has also asked organizations to ensure that each employee plants at least one tree of their choice over and above five such trees.
  • It will be the responsibility of the institution to ensure that good care of plants is being taken care of by the employees so that it survives and flourishes.
  • The initiative has been announced by the Prime Minister to ensure a clean and healthy environment in India.
  • The initiative launched during the monsoon season provides the right environment for the plants to grow and strengthen their roots in the soil. The initiative focuses on the importance of a clean and healthy environment during the ongoing Pandemic.
