24th “Hunar Haat” is being organized in Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) from 22nd January to 04th February, 2021.

Details

  • Hunar Haat is an exhibition of handicrafts and traditional products made by artisans from the minority communities.
  • These are organised by the Ministry of Minority Affairs under USTTAD (Upgrading the Skills & Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development) scheme.
  • It aims to provide market exposure and employment opportunities to artisans, craftsmen and traditional culinary experts.
  • It envisages boosting the skills of craftsmen, weavers and artisans who are already engaged in the traditional ancestral work.

About USTTAD (Upgrading the Skills & Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development) scheme.

  • USTTAD stands for Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development Scheme.
  • The Ministry of Minority Affairs has proposed the Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development (USTTAD scheme) to promote the heritage of traditional arts and crafts of minorities.
  • This scheme was mainly developed with the object of training and upgrading skills of artisans belonging to the minority communities, thereby preserving traditional ancestral arts/crafts being practiced by them.
