AarogyaSetu App to Track COVID-19 infections

The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology has tied up with Digital India for promoting public-private partnership and has come up with an app called the AarogyaSetu to fight against COVID-19.

Key Points:

  • The app is ready to be used across India and is available in 11 languages.
  • It helps people to themselves assess the risk of catching the COVID19 infection. The risk will be calculated based on their interaction with others, using cutting edge Bluetooth technology, algorithms and artificial intelligence.
  • Once installed in a smartphone, the app detects other devices with AarogyaSetu installed that come in the proximity of that phone.
  • The app calculates the risk of infection based on sophisticated parameters in case any of these contacts are tested positive. Thus this app provides the necessary information to the government to fight against COVID-19.
  • This app ensures privacy of people at priority and stays secure on the phone till it is needed.
  • It is referred to as a multidimensional bridge as it works between public and private sectors, digital technology and health services delivery and the potential of young India with a disease-free and healthy future of the nation.
