Agriculture-Farming and allied activities will be exempted from the 21 days Lockdown

The Central Government has granted relaxation to agriculture-farming and allied activities from the nationwide lockdown to address problems being faced by the farming community. This will also ensure uninterrupted harvesting of crops.

Key Points:

  • The Farmers were exempted from the lockdown under the second addendum published on 25 March 2020 by the Union Home Ministry.
  • The Ministry of Home Affairs has exempted the following categories from the lockdown as mentioned in the 2nd Addendum:
  1. Agencies that are involved in the procurement of agriculture products, including MSP operations
  2. ‘Mandis’ operated by the Agriculture Produce Market Committee(APMC)
  3. Farming activities by farmers and workers in the field
  4. Manufacturing and packaging of fertilisers, pesticides and seed b farm units
  5. Movement of harvesting and sowing related machines like combined harvester and other agriculture/horticulture implements within or outside the states.
  • This decision will facilitate activities related to farming and agriculture, which will ensure essential supplies to the common man and that the farmers and common people do not face any difficulty during the lockdown.
