AHNA in Ahmedabad has launched home care initiative

The Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes’ Association, (AHNA) has launched the home care initiative for patients with moderate and mild symptoms and cases of COVID-19.

Key Points:

  • The step has been taken by the association to reduce the burden falling on the COVID care centres of the city.
  • Under the programme, only seven private hospitals have been included, but the aim of the association is to include 50 hospitals in the coming future.
  • The President of the AHNA association, Dr Bharat Gadhvi, has stated that about 80 to 85 percent of patients in the city do not require special medical care.
  • For patients who do not require special attention, the initiative has been started.
  • The initiative does not cover individuals falling in high-risk groups like senior citizens, pregnant women, and patients with more that one medical issue.
  • Under the programme, daily teleconsultation by a qualified nurse, physicians, training to medical staff on vital handlings and a personal visit by a nurse twice in 10 days will be undertaken.
  • The amount of the package under which the services have been kept has been kept Rs.699/day and the hospitals have been allowed to decrease the cost if they are willing to do so.
