Algeria beat Senegal to win their second Africa Cup of Nations

On 19th July 2019, Algeria won their second Africa Cup of Nations title with a 1-0 victory over Senegal in final in Cairo, adding to the other championship they won in 1990. Nigeria took third place.

The following awards were given at the conclusion of the tournament:

  • Total Man of the Competition - Ismaël Bennacer (Algeria)
  • Top Scorer - Odion Ighalo (Nigeria) (5 goals)
  • Best Goalkeeper - Raïs M'Bolhi (Algeria)
  • Fair Play prize – Senegal

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is the main international association football competition in Africa. It is sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and was first held in 1957.
