Ambati Rayudu announces retirement from all forms

Middle order Indian Batsman Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from all forms of cricket including Indian Premier League (IPL). BCCI has confirmed his retirement.

His retirement comes after he was not called up in the world cup 2019 squad after Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar suffered injuries despite being in named in the reserves. He was not included in the 15-member squad for the ongoing World Cup.

The 33 year old batsman represented India in 55 One day Internationals (ODIs) and scored 1694 runs at an average of 47.05.

Rayudu began his career playing first class cricket with the Hyderabad cricket team. He also took part in the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) and only returned to the BCCI fold in 2009. Rayudu made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2013. He played six T20Is and scored 42 runs. Rayudu never got a chance to represent India in Test cricket.
