Cabinet approves Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase II

The Union Cabinet on 19 Feb approved implementation of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II.

The project comprises two corridors of with a total length of 28.254 km: Corridor 1 from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir (22.838 km) and Corridor 2 from GNLU to GIFT City (5.416 km).

Total completion cost of Phase-II metro is estimated at Rs 5,384.17 crore.

The second phase of metro rail project is aimed at streamlining the urban transportation system in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

Both the cities are currently stressed due to intensive developments, increase in the number of private vehicles and heavy construction in the city.
