Context:

A comet is expected to fly past Earth by December 12 during its orbit around our solar system. The comet, named after Leonard after the astronomer Gregory Leonard, who discovered it earlier this year, is likely to shine when it approaches Earth on December 12.

NASA’s Prediction of Comet A1 Leonard:

• NASA says the comet will appear brighter as it approaches the earth's surface during its flight.
• After a close encounter on December 12, the comet will appear in the evening sky, incredibly short after sunset, about December 14.
• On December 12, Leonard will be 34 miles away from us.
• On January 3, it will be located approximately 90 million kilometers from the Sun at its perihelion.
• Despite being one of the brightest stars in the universe, it would be challenging to look without telescopes or other such instruments.
• Also, Leonard will start to look a little brighter as it moves away from us.

About the Comet A1 Leonard:

• It is also known as C / 2021 A1.
• It is visible in the sky in the east. before the Sun rises.
• Stargazers can see it between the Big Dipper's handle and Arcturus, one of the brightest stars seen from Earth.
