JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE DEFENDER-EUROPE 21

Recently, the US-Army led multinational, joint exercise ‘DEFENDER-Europe 21’ started in Albania. It was launched by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

A NEW SOYBEAN VARIETY DEVELOPED

Scientists have developed a high-yielding and pest-resistant variety of soybean, called MACS 1407. It is developed by Scientists from MACS- Agharkar Research Institute, Pune, in collaboration with Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.

Its seeds have 19.81% oil content, 41% protein content and show good germinability.

INTERNATIONAL WORKERS' DAY OBSERVED

Every year, May 1 is celebrated as International Workers Day. It is also celebrated as the  Labour Day in different parts of the world. It is celebrated to commemorate the contributions of workers and the historic labour movements.

SHWAS AND AROG LOAN SCHEMES FOR MSMES

Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) launched SHWAS and AROG to help the MSMEs with required financial support. The scheme facilitates funding for production and services related to supply of oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, oximeters and essential drugs.

RBI JOINS NETWORK FOR GREENING FINANCIAL SYSTEM

Recently, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) joined the Central Banks and Supervisors ‘Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS)’ as a Member.

‘Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS)’  is a group of Central banks and supervisors willing to share the best practices and contribute to the development of the environment and climate risk management in the financial sector, while mobilising mainstream finance to support the transition towards a sustainable economy.
