World Autism Awareness Day

The World Autism Awareness Day(WAAD) is observed on 2 April every year to raise awareness about Autism. Many organizations across the world help in research, diagnosis and treatment of Autistic Spectrum Disorder(ASD). The theme of WAAD for 2020 is “The Transition to Adulthood”.

Long awaited Expo 2020 has been postponed to 2021

Expo 2020 is a much-awaited World Expo to be hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, which was to be held in October 2020 has been postponed to 2021 after considering input from other countries amid COVID-19 pandemic. Expo 2020 is based on the theme called the"Connecting Minds, Creating the Future".

Wimbledon Championship cancelled for the first time since WWII

The Wimbledon Championship, a championship in Tennis was cancelled for the first time in 75 Years that is for the first time since World War II. The Championship is held at ‘The All England Club’ in Wimbledon.

Three Quasi-Sub species of Coronavirus circulating in India

Three Quasi-subspecies of COVID19(SARS-CoV-2) virus are circulating in India which are imported variants. No change in the behaviour of the virus has been known compared to the place of origin. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) announced the various SARS-CoV-2 strains in the country.

IPA, WHO and UNICEF launch Read the World

The International Publishers Association (IPA), the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF have launched the Read the World initiative. The initiative has been started on 2 April 2020 that is on International Children’s Book Day in association with the Italian author Elisabetta Dami, who created the famous character Geronimo Stilton.

Conference Of Parties 26 Postponed

The UN climate change conference COP26 (Conference of Parties 26) which was scheduled to take place in Glasgow, Scotland in November has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

AarogyaSetu App to Track COVID-19 infections

The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology has tied up with Digital India for promoting public-private partnership and has come up with an app called the AarogyaSetu to fight against COVID-19. The app is ready to be used across India and is available in 11 languages.

International Children’s Book Day

The International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is observed every year on 2 April and is a yearly event supported by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY). The day was founded in 1967 and is observed on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday.
