Lok Sabha passes teachers reservation bill

The Lok Sabha passed the Central Educational Institutions Reservation in Teachers Cadre Bill 2019 on 1 July that seeks for the first time a 10% quota for economically weaker sections (EWS) in the recruitment of teachers in central government run higher educational institutions and enforces SC, ST and OBC reservation in universities as a single unit instead of at the department level.

Loan portal for MSMEs launched

A portal www.psbloansin59minutes.com has been launched by a public limited company, ‘Online PSB loans Ltd’ in which SIDBI & other public sector banks hold majority stake.

The portal facilitates in-principle approval of loans for MSMEs in 59 minutes by various banks.
