Labour ministry celebrates pension week

Ministry of Labour and Employment has designated 30 November 2019 to 6 December 2019 as the Pension Week. This week would focus on enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) and National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons (NPS-Traders).

Lok Sabha clears Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2019

This bill has replaced the ordinance promulgated by the President in September 2019. The ordinance reduced corporate taxes. The bill aims to amend both Income Tax Act, 1961 and also the Finance Act, 2019. This bill aims to bring in more investment in the manufacturing sector by bringing down the corporate tax rate to 22% without incentives and 15% for new manufacturing entities.

Pritivirajsing Roopun elected as new President of Mauritius

Mauritius lawmakers selected former arts and culture minister Pritivirajsing Roopun as the President of the country. He will take over the position which was lying vacant since March 2018.

Bharatiya Poshan Anthem

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has launched the ‘Bharatiya Poshan Anthem’ in New Delhi. This aims towards taking the message of making India malnutrition free to all corners of the country. This anthem was conceptualised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, penned by noted lyricist Prasoon Joshi and sung by Shankar Mahadevan.

Indian Navy Day

Indian Navy played a crucial role during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 and started Operation Trident. To commemorate the attack and to accomplish the role of Naval force every year, Navy Day is celebrated on 4 December. The theme for the 2019 Navy day is Indian Navy-Salient, Strong and Swift.

India’s first ‘Eat Right Station’

The Mumbai Central Terminal of the Western Railway has been certified as India's first "Eat Right Station". It is awarded by the FSSAI with a 4-Star rating. As part of efforts to help passengers make a healthy and right food choice, the Indian Railways launched the 'Eat Right Station' as part of the 'Eat Right India' initiative of the FSSAI started in the year 2018.

Rajya Sabha passed the Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill, 2019

The Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill, 2019 has been passed in the Parliament. The bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha on 3rd December 2019. The SPG (Amendment) Bill, 2019 proposes to provide security to the Prime Minister and the members of his immediate family, who are residing with him at the official residence.
