Manoj Kumar Nambiar: Chairman of Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN)

The Managing Director of Arohan Financial Services, Manoj Kumar Nambiar has been appointed as the chairman of Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN). MFIN is an association for the microfinance sector in India and it comprises 56 NBFC-MFIs and 40 associates including banks, small finance banks and NBFCs.

Ambati Rayudu announces retirement from all forms

Middle order Indian Batsman Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from all forms of cricket including Indian Premier League (IPL). BCCI has confirmed his retirement. The 33 year old batsman represented India in 55 One day Internationals (ODIs) and scored 1694 runs at an average of 47.05.

New Zealand bans single-use plastic bags

New Zealand has officially banned single-use plastic shopping bags and introduced hefty fines for businesses that continue to provide these plastic shopping bags. The legislation to ban the single-use plastic shopping bags was announced in August last year and came into force on 1st July 2019.It will have little practical effect, as New Zealand's major supermarkets have already voluntarily banned the bags.

Inauguration of 34th Sailing Championship held in Hyderabad

The Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, ESL Narasimhan inaugurated the 34th edition of Hyderabad Sailing Week National Ranking Multi-Class Championship 2019 in Hyderabad, Telangana. The event will take place between 2 to 7 July. This championship which is held every year in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad is going to be held at the Hussain Sagar Lake.

Centre will increase healthcare expenditure to 2.5% of GDP by 2025

The Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said that the government has set a target to raise health services expenditure to 2.5 per cent of the country's GDP by 2025. He added that the government's expenditure on health services has increased continuously over the years. The minister informed that the National Health Policy 2017 envisages increasing the public health expenditure to 2.5 percent of the GDP by 2025.

Shakib Al Hasan became the first player to score 500 runs and take 10 wickets in the World Cup

Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib made history by becoming the first player to score more than 500 runs and take 10 wickets in a single World Cup campaign. He achieved the feat against India in the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019.
