‘CATCH THE RAIN CAMPAIGN’ TO BE LAUNCHED

The Ministry of Jal Shakti will launch the 100 days ‘Catch the Rain Campaign’ which aims to promote water conservation across the country. The campaign will be launched under the aegis of the National Water Mission (NWM). The tagline of the campaign is “Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls”.

CENTRAL REVENUES CONTROL LABORATORY (CRCL) RECOGNISED AS A REGIONAL CUSTOMS LABORATORY (RCL)

The Central Revenues Control Laboratory (CRCL), New Delhi has been recognised as a Regional Customs Laboratory (RCL) of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) for the Asia-Pacific Region in India. The Central Revenues Control Laboratory functions under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

CENTRE LAUNCHED ‘SAGAR-MANTHAN: MERCANTILE MARINE DOMAIN AWARENESS CENTRE (MMDAC)’

The Central Government has launched the ‘Sagar-Manthan: Mercantile Marine Domain Awareness Centre (MMDAC)’ to help and aid seafarers and fishermen in times of need. The system will be shared with the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

The system is also known as the “Real-time Vessel Tracking System”. The system can track Indian vessels across the globe and can also track foreign vessels that are present within 1,000-km of Indian coastline.

WORLD WILDLIFE DAY 2021 DAY OBSERVED

World Wildlife Day is observed on 3rd March every year to increase global awareness about plants and wildlife. The theme of World Wildlife Day 2021 is ‘Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet’.

75% RESERVATION IN PRIVATE JOBS IN HARYANA

The state government of Haryana has notified and implemented the provisions of the Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Bill, 2020 four months after the bill was passed in the state assembly to reserve 75% jobs in the private sector for Locals from the state. Under the Act, 75% of jobs with gross monthly salary up to Rs. 50 thousand will be reserved.

WORLD WIDE FUND FOR NATURE RELEASED THE ‘WORLD’S FORGOTTEN FISHES REPORT

The World Wide Fund for Nature has released the ‘World’s Forgotten Fishes Report’ in partnership with various conservation groups and societies. The report highlights the vulnerability status of the fishes, where a third of the freshwater fishes are threatened with extinction.

NORWAY WILL CONDUCT MARINE SPATIAL PLANNING IN LAKSHADWEEP AND PUDUCHERRY

Norway will conduct Marine Spatial Planning in Lakshadweep and Puducherry in collaboration with India. Lakshadweep and Puducherry have been selected as the sites. The Project will be implemented by the Ministry of Earth Sciences and via the National Centre for Coastal Research for India.

Marine spatial planning is a process that brings together multiple users of the ocean – including energy, industry, government, conservation and recreation – to make informed and coordinated decisions about how to use marine resources sustainably.
