INTERNATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS’ DAY: 04 MAY

International Firefighters' Day is observed each year on 4th May. 

Its symbol : A piece of red and a piece of blue ribbon pinned together at the top (blue over red).

JUSTICE PANT APPOINTED NHRC ACTING CHAIRPERSON

Prafulla Chandra Pant has been appointed as the acting chairperson of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is an independent statutory body established as per provisions of Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. It looks after the  human rights in the country, i.e. the rights related to life, liberty, equality and dignity of the individual guaranteed by Indian Constitution.

SUTRA MODEL FOR COVID-19

Scientists in India are using Sutra Model to track and chart COVID-19. The Sutra Model for charting CoVID-19 trajectory of its spread and infections across the country has been developed by the Scientists of India.

It is a mathematical model employed for the prediction of the spread of the virus and predicts the trajectory only with some certainty.

WIPRO BECAME THIRD MOST-VALUED INDIAN IT FIRM

Wipro became the 3rd largest Indian IT services company. TCS remains at the top of the list of IT companies with a market capitalization of Rs11.51 trillion, to be followed by Infosys with a market capitalization of Rs5.73 trillion.

ICC RANKINGS: NEW ZEALAND REPLACE ENGLAND AS TOP-RANKED ODI TEAM

New Zealand have replaced England as the No. 1-ranked side in the One-day International rankings. Australia are on the second with 118 points, while both India and England are on 115.

MARK SELBY BECOMES WORLD CHAMPION FOR 4TH TIME IN SNOOKER

Mark Selby became the World Champion for the fourth time. He became a four-time world snooker champion at the Crucible in Sheffield after defeating Shaun Murphy 18-15.
