Tap connections will be provided to all rural households in Himachal Pradesh by 2022

The Ministry of Jal Shakti will implement the Jal Jeevan Mission in Himachal Pradesh after deliberations between Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Jairam Thakur held via video conferencing went successfully on 4 July 2020. Under the scheme, the quality and quantity of the supply of water along with the proper supply of Drinking Water will be ensured. The state has planned coverage of 100 percent by August 2022 before the national goal which has been set to 2024.

All India Radio has started the broadcast of its first-ever news programme in Sanskrit

In an effort to provide a boost to the Indian Languages, the All India Radio has started the broadcast of its first news magazine programme in the Sanskrit language. The title of the programme has been kept 'Sanskrit Saptahiki' and will be aired on every Saturday on the 100.1 MHz, FM news Channel of All India Radio for a duration of 20 minutes starting at 7:10 A.M.

Russian President wins presidential polls with a large number of votes

According to preliminary results, a resounding victory has been achieved by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin in his efforts to retain the power of the President till 2036 as its citizens voted for the political status quo of the country. The polls were conducted across the nation on 1 July 2020 for the cast of ballots in a referendum on amendments in the Russian Constitution.

Joint Venture formed by Coal India and NLC for the development of solar and thermal power assets

The state-owned “Navaratna” company under the government of India, NLC India Limited has formed a Joint Venture with Coal India for the development of solar and thermal power assets. Under the Joint Venture, the thermal and solar power assets will be made to the tune of 5,000 megawatts of power with both the companies holding 50:50 equity in the JV company.

Social media super app Elyments launched by Vice President of India

The Vice President of India launched the Elyments app, that is the first official social media super App of India and has been developed by the collaboration of more than a thousand Information Technology Professionals who are also volunteers for the Art of Living foundation led by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Madhya Pradesh Tourism has launched the ‘Intezaar aapka’ social media campaign

A social media campaign called ‘Intezaar aapka’ which translates to ‘waiting for you’ has been launched by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Corporation in an effort to attract tourists to the state in the post corona lockdown period. The campaign has been launched on the social media platforms of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, with the objective of attracting potential visitors to the various travel destinations in the state.

Need for systemic reforms in regulatory system called by Principal Scientific Advisor

Professor K VijayRaghavan, the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government, has called for systemic reforms in the regulatory system and broadening the mechanism of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The reforms have been called by the Principal Scientific Advisor for utilising the activities of Research and Development in the country. Professor K Vijay Raghavan made the statement in the high-level Industry consultation that was held for the formulation of the new Science, Technology and Innovation Policy, STIP 2020.

Facebook and CBSE collaborate for the launch of free training program students

The social media giant, Facebook has collaborated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the launch of a free and all-round training program for students and teachers for the schools affiliated with CBSE. Under the program, the training of teachers on augmented reality will be held along with the training of students on digital well being and online safety. The training program will be held for three weeks and will be attended by ten thousand teachers and students each.

Highest ever monthly sales and export recorded by SAIL in June

The highest ever sales and exports were achieved by the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) during the month of June 2020. The sales from domestic and export stood at 12.77 lakh tonnes which is a significant increase of over 18 percent over the same period in 2019. The Steel Authority of India has also recorded the highest exports in the month of June with export of 3.4 lakh tonnes. The company also achieved the best dispatch of rails to the Indian Railways in June.

Bangladesh ranks 109 on SDG Index

The eastern neighbour of India, Bangladesh has moved up in the new Sustainable Development Index 2020 by seven positions. 

Sweden was ranked in the first position with a total score of 84.7 whereas Bangladesh scored 63.5.

Five MoUs signed between India and Afghanistan for developing educational infrastructure in Afghan provinces

Afghanistan signed five Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with India on 5 July 2020, for the development of educational infrastructure in four provinces of Afghanistan. The projects that will be developed under the MoU include a higher education building, constructing classrooms, and constructing a road in the Albironi University campus. The project will be developed across the four provinces of Badakhshan, Farah, Kapisa and Nuristan.

Weavers' Sammaan Yojana launched by Karnataka

The Weavers Sammaan Yojana was launched by the Chief Minister of Karnataka B. S. Yediyurappa on 6 July 2020. The government has allocated Rs.10.96 crores under the initiative. Under the scheme, the government will provide two thousand rupees to 19,744 handloom weavers in the form of annual financial assistance via Direct Benefit Transfer.
