INS HANSA CELEBRATED DIAMOND JUBILEE ON 05 SEP 21

INS Hansa, the Indian Navy's premier air station, celebrated its diamond jubilee on 05 Sep 2021. INS Hansa is the host of the prestigious launch of President's Color to aval aviation by the Hon'ble President of India on 06 September 2021. The event coincides with the INS Hansa diamond jubilee and the liberation of Goa.

NIPAH VIRUS CASE DETECTED IN KOZHIKODE, KERALA

A Nipah virus case has been found in the Kozhikode district of Kerala. A suspected case of NIPAH, a 12-year-old boy who developed symptoms of encephalitis and myocarditis was reported on September 3, 2021, in Kozhikode in the state of Kerala.

It is a bat-borne virus that causes Nipah virus infection in humans and other animals, a disease with a high mortality rate.

BHITARKANIKA NATIONAL PARK UNDER THREAT

Bitarkanika National Park is the second-largest mangrove forest in India and is home to the Ramsar. It was declared Bitarkanika National Park in 1988. Bitarkanika is located at the mouth of the Brahmani, Baitarani, Dhamra, and tributaries of the Mahanadi rivers. It is located in the Kendrapara region of Odisha.

SHAILENDRA SINGH WON THE BEHLER TURTLE CONSERVATION AWARD

Indian biologist Shailendra Singh was awarded the Behler Turtle Conservation Award for bringing three critically endangered turtle conservation species back from the brink of extinction.

‘GLOBAL STATUS REPORT ON THE PUBLIC HEALTH RESPONSE TO DEMENTIA’ BY WHO

Recently, the WHO (World Health Organization) released a report on the ‘Global Status Report on the public health response to dementia’. 

According to WHO estimates, at present, more than 55 million people (8.1% of women and 5.4% of men over 65 years) are living with dementia worldwide.

INDIAN RESEARCHERS STUDY ON BLUE STRAGGLERS

Indian researchers found that half of the blue stragglers in their sample was formed by a mass transfer from the nearest binary companion star, while one-third may have been caused by a two-star collision. And the rest is built on a combination of more than two stars. This first-ever comprehensive analysis of blue stragglers has been published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

Blue straggler is a class of stars on open or globular clusters that stand out as they are bigger and bluer than the rest of the stars.

INDIA TO BE THE FIRST COUNTRY FROM ASIA TO INTRODUCE A PLASTIC PACT

India has introduced the Plastics Pact, the first step in Asia, to ensure the successful recycling of plastic packaging with the help of stakeholders. By 2030, the agreement aims to pack 100% plastics for recycling or recycling in India.

The India Plastics Pact is a joint initiative between the World Wide Fund for Nature-India (WWF India) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

39 NEW MEDICINES ADDED TO THE NATIONAL LIST OF ESSENTIAL MEDICINES (NLEM)

The government of India has released the revised list of National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM), in which it has added 39 drugs, removed 16 drugs. NLEM list is revised and the ceiling prices are fixed every 5 years. NLEM 2015, which was implemented in 2016 has ended in March 2021.
