Brazilian bossa nova pioneer Joao Gilberto has died

Joao Gilberto, the legendary Brazilian musician and songwriter who was a pioneer of the lilting, melodious music known as bossa nova, has died, his son Joao Marcelo announced Saturday on Facebook. Gilberto was 88.

Jaspit Bumrah Becomes Second Fastest Indian To Take 100 Wickets in ODIs

Jasprit Bumrah became the second fastest Indian to take 100 wickets in One-Day International (ODI) cricket when he dismissed Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne at Headingly on Saturday during India's last league match of World Cup 2019.

In yet another landmark achievement, India’s nomination of the Jaipur City, Rajasthan got inscribed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO during the 43rd Session of the World Heritage Committee held at Baku, Azerbaijan. With Successful inscription of Jaipur City, India has 38 world heritage sites , that include 30 Cultural properties, 7 Natural properties and 1 mixed site.

Annu Rani Finishes 7th in Diamond League Javelin Competition

National record holder javelin thrower Annu Rani finished seventh with a below-par show in her first Diamond League appearance. Rani’s third round throw of 59.35m was well below her national record of 62.34m which she had come up during the Federation Cup in March.

Indian athletes win six medals in Kazakhstan

Indian track and field athletes won six medals, including three gold, on the first day of the Qasanov Memorial Meet. Mohammed Afsal won the men's 800m gold in a good time of one minute 49.12 seconds, just missing out on his season's best of 1:49.01 which he had clocked in February during the Patiala leg of India Grand Prix.
