Fourth Edition of virtual Ministerial Climate Action held

The European Union in association with China and Canada co-chaired the fourth edition of the virtual Ministerial on Climate Action where countries exchanged views on how economic recovery plans are being aligned with the Paris Agreement for ensuring continued climate action. The Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Prakash Javadekar represented India at the conference.

Namami Gange Programme gets a support of $400 million from the World Bank

A loan agreement of $400 million was signed by the Indian Government and the World Bank to increase the support for rejuvenation of the Ganga river under the Namami Gange Programme. The second edition of the National Ganga River Basin Project will assist in the reduction of pollution from the river Ganga and will be helpful in the strengthening of the management system of the river basin, which has over 500 million people residing there.

'Digital Haat' for sacrificial animals launched by the Government of Bangladesh

A ‘Digital Haat’ has been launched by the Government of Bangladesh on 7 July 2020 for facilitating the online sale and purchase of animals to be sacrificed during the Eid-Ul-Azha festival. The Bangladesh government has started the initiative to address the issue of financial loss of cattle farmers and traders during the coronavirus pandemic and to contain the further spread of the infection.

Guidelines for Evaluation of Nano-based Agri-input, food products in India' released

The ‘Guidelines for Evaluation of Nano-based Agri-input and food products in India’ was released by the Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and the Union Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Harsh Vardhan on 7 July 2020 via a video link. The guidelines will provide assistance to the regulators and policymakers for framing provision, which will be effective for the future nano-based products in the food and agri-input sector of India.

Global Real Estate Transparency Index of JLL ranks India at the 34th position

The Global Real Estate Transparency Index (GRETI) released by the Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) has ranked India at the 34th position. Across the globe, the United Kingdom (UK) is the most transparent country in the real estate market and is followed by the United States of America (USA).

MoU signed between Coast Guards of India and Indonesia to boost maritime relations

The Indian Coast Guard has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indonesian Coast Guard via video conferencing, in an effort to boost maritime relations and comprehensive strategic partnership. The new agreement has been signed with the objective of improving the collaborative and cooperative engagement in the domains of marine pollution response, maritime law enforcement, maritime search and rescue.

Largest Data Center Facility of India, inaugurated by Yotta Infrastructure

Yotta Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Hiranandani Group, inaugurates India’s largest data centre. It is called Yotta NM1. It is located in the 600-acre Hiranandani Fortune City in Panvel. The data centre is capable of providing 7200 racks and 50MW of power with 48-hour backup.

India’s first automated machine for molecular diagnostic tests launched by Mylab Discovery Solutions

Mylab Discovery Solutions, the molecular diagnostics company, based in Pune, has launched the first machine that automates the processes of molecular diagnostic tests like RT-PCR tests for Coronavirus infection. The name of the machine is ‘Compact XL’, and it is a compact bench machine that automates the laboratory processes from handling of the samples to the preparation of RT-PCR tubes.

Dept. of Personnel and Training appoints Injeti Srinivas as the first chairman of IFSCA

The senior bureaucrat, Injeti Srinivas, was appointed as the first chairman of the International Financial Services Centre Authority for Gujarat International Finance Tech City. IFSA will act as a unified authority to regulate all financial services in international financial services centres (IFSCs) across the country.
