nCoVSENSe module funded by DST

The Pune based healthcare startup ‘Module Innovations”, has been funded by the Department of Science and Technology. nCoVSENSe is a quick test device that will detect antibodies which are generated against the COVID 19 in the human body. The testing kit is being developed for the rapid diagnosis COVID 19 with a 10 to 15-minute test.

NASA to set up Artemis Base Camp on Moon in 2024

National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) will set up the ‘Artemis Base Camp on Moon in 2024’ and has brought out its plans in a 13-page document and highlights the requirements of the mission. Artemis Base Camp will be a lunar surface habitat which will house four astronauts at the south pole of the moon for a week.

Farmer Scientist develops Biofortified carrot variety

A Farmer Scientist, Shri Vallabhhai Vasrambhai Marvaniya from Junagadh district in Gujarat has developed a biofortified carrot variety named Madhuban Gajar. The Madhuvan Gajar has been developed through the procedure of selection and contains higher iron content (276.7 mg/kg) and β-carotene content (277.75 mg/kg) in the dry form.

Anti microbial coating Technology by DST

An anti-microbial coating developed by Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) has been approved by the Department of Science and Technology recently approved. The anti-microbial coating kills the microbes as they come in contact with it and can be applied on surfaces such as plastics, textiles, etc.

TRIFED and UNICEF Digital Campaign for self help groups

TRIFED and UNICEF have collaborated for the development of a digital communication strategy for the promotion of a digital campaign aimed at the Self Help Groups (SHGs) so that they ensure to help the tribal gatherers carry on their work safely.

Integrated Govt. Online Training(iGOT) portal on DIKSHA

The Government of India has launched a training module named ‘Integrated Govt. Online training’ (iGOT) portal on the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s DIKSHA platform to take care of the training needs of the frontline workers and build the capacity of frontline workers to handle the pandemic efficiently.

Coronavirus genome sequencing started

The CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) has started research on the complete genome sequencing of the novel coronavirus. The complete Genome Sequencing will provide an insight into the evolution of the virus and provide information such as how dynamic it is and how fast it mutates and multiplies.

MoHUA has launched Revised Version of Swachhata App

The MoHUA has launched a revised version of the existing Swachhata-MoHUA App. The Swachhata-MoHUA App is a popular grievance redressal tool for citizens under the scope of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). Citizens can now get their COVID19 related complaints redressed by their respective Urban Local Bodies.

Supreme Court orders Private Labs to do COVID19 tests for free

The Supreme Court of India on 8 April 2020 ordered the private labs in the country to make COVID-19 testing free of cost. The Indian Government had earlier allowed the private labs to test COVID-19 after being approved by ICMR. The prices of the test are capped at Rs. 4,500.
