Odisha launches BLUIS system to prevent encroachment of government land

The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik launched the BLUIS system to monitor alterations to government lands in Bhubaneshwar. The system which will utilise high resolution satellite imagery.

The Bhubaneswar Land Use Intelligence System (BLUIS) is a mobile and web-based solution and will raise alarm over the changes in land use and will make it difficult for land grabbers to encroach upon the government land.

Meeting held between 15th Finance Commission World Bank on Health Sector

The World Bank and its High level Group (HLG) on Health Sector held a meeting with the Fifteenth Finance Commission on 7 July 2020. The deliberation focused on a better understanding of the outlines and areas of the Health Sector in India. The meeting was held by the 15th Finance commission with representatives of the  Commission’s High level group on the health sector, Niti Aayog and the World Bank to reprioritize the health spending of the government.

MoU signed by IIT Alumni Council and CSIR-IGIB for research on COVID-19

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), one of the institutes functioning under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Alumni Council of Indian Institute of Technology. Both the institutes will conduct joint research on the COVID-19 infection and analyse data of patients as per the agreement. The IIT Alumni Council is also setting up the world’s largest molecular diagnostic lab called 'MegaLab Mumbai'.

MoU signed between CBDT and SEBI for the exchange of data

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), for the exchange of data between the two organisations. The data and information will be exchanged between the two organisations on a regular and automatic basis.

Cabinet gives nod to setting up of One Lakh Crore Rupees Agriculture Infrastructure Fund

The new Central Sector Scheme, ‘Agriculture Infrastructure Fund’ has received the approval of the Union Cabinet on 8 July 2020 and will be implemented across the country. Under the scheme, a long term and medium term debt financing facility will be provided by the government for investment in feasible projects. The Banks and financial institutions will provide a loan of Rs.1 lakh crore under the scheme.

Development of Affordable rental housing Complexes for poor approved by the cabinet

The Union Cabinet under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the development of Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (AHRCs) as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY – U) for the poor and urban migrants. The Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (AHRCs) will function as a sub-scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY – U). The government will convert the already existing and vacant housing complexes of the government in ARHCs for a period of twenty-five years via a concession agreement.

Six strategic bridges e-inaugurated by the Defence Minister of India in Jammu and Kashmir

The Defence Minister of India, Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated six major bridges on 9 July 2020 via video conferencing that will provide connectivity of roads and bridges in sensitive areas that lie near the Line of Control and International Border. Two of the six bridges are located on the Tarnah Nallah in Kathua District, and the rest four are located in the Akhnoor/Jammu district on the Akhnoor-Pallanwala road.
