Compendium of Indian Technologies for Combating COVID-19 prepared by NRDC

The National Research Development Organization has prepared the “Compendium of Indian Technologies for Combating COVID-19 (Tracing, Testing and Treating)”. The compilation has information regarding 200 Indian technologies on COVID-19, continuing research activities, available technologies for commercialization, steps, and measures of the Indian Government. The information has been categorized under the 3Ts of Tracking, Testing, and Treating.

Ministry of Culture to hold webinars for budding artists

The National School of Drama, under the Ministry of Culture, will hold a series of webinars for a week from 10 May 2020. The webinars will be delivered by theatre veterans as the lockdown continues in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. The focus of the webinars will be on theatre history, criticism, and hands-on training through the digital medium.

CSIR approves project to develop antibodies to neutralize SARS-CoV-2

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is developing technologies and products and is working with industry and is also supporting new ideas and projects from other institutes and firms through its primary initiative New Millennium Indian Technology Leadership Initiative (NMITLI). CSIR has given approval to several projects for the development of human monoclonal antibodies (hmAbs) to neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 virus in patients.

Agreement for $500 million COVID-19 support signed by AIIB and India

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Indian Government has signed a $500 million “COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Project” on 8 May 2020 to assist India in responding to the pandemic and provide strength to the public health system. The bank has provided the health sector support to India for the first time.

Awards given to winners of “Startup India-Animal Husbandry Grand Challenge”

The ‘Animal Husbandry Startup Grand Challenge’ was launched by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, in collaboration with Startup India, to look for innovative and commercially feasible solutions to resolve the issues and challenges faced by the Animal Husbandry and Dairy sector. The 12 Startups will be provided cash grants worth Rs 1,02,00,000. With the winner getting INR 10 Lakh and Runner up getting INR 7 Lakh.

Defence Minister chairs 165th EC meeting of MP-IDSA

The 165th and first-ever virtual Executive Council (EC) meeting of Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA) was presided over by the Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh. The MP-IDSA is among the few institutions that reopened first while the restrictions were in place with appropriate safety measures and following the social distancing guidelines.
