PRIME MINISTER SHRI NARENDRA MODI LAUNCHES SUBMARINE CABLE CONNECTIVITY TO ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS (CANI)

Recently, the Prime Minister launched and dedicated to the nation the submarine Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) connecting Andaman & Nicobar Islands. It is a network of cables about 2300 kilometers under the sea. It will connect Chennai to Port Blair, Port Blair to Little Andaman and Port Blair to Swaraj Island digitally.

FINANCE MINISTER LAUNCHES AN ONLINE DASHBOARD FOR THE NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE PIPELINE

Finance Minister inaugurated the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) Online Dashboard. It acts as a one stop solution for all stakeholders looking for information on infrastructure projects in New India. It is being hosted on the India Investment Grid (IIG).

INDIA TO PARTICIPATE IN KAVKAZ 2020 EXERCISE IN RUSSIA

India will take part in a tri-service exercise in Russia. It is commonly referred to as KAVKAZ 2020. It is to be held in Astrakhan in southern Russia. It is scheduled in September 2020

The Indian contingent will includes 150 Army personnel with few number of personnel from the Navy and Air Force.

UPSC CHAIRMAN APPOINTED

Recently, the President of India appointed a new UPSC Chairman, Pradeep Kumar. He succeeds Arvind Saxena.

WORLD BIOFUEL DAY 2020

World Biofuel Day is celebrated across the country. The theme of World Biofuel Day 2020 is ‘Biofuels Towards Atmanirbhar Bharat’. The day is observed every year on 10 August by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas since 2015. Its objective is to increase awareness regarding the importance of non-fossil fuels as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels.

FIRST SILK TRAINING CUM PRODUCTION CENTER IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH

The first of its kind Training cum Production Center of Silk will be established in Arunachal Pradesh. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) will establish the first of its kind Training cum Production Center of Silk in the far-flung tribal village of Chullyu in Arunachal Pradesh.

‘TSUNAMI READY’ VILLAGES

Venkatapur village in Ganjam district and Nolia Sahi village in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha have become Tsunami Ready Villages. UNESCO has awarded the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) ’s Certificate of Recognition and Certificate of Appreciation awards to the two villages.

MOU SIGNED BY CSIR WITH FSSAI FOR CARRYING OUT JOINT RESEARCH ON FOOD AND NUTRITION.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for carrying out joint research on food and nutrition. It will help in creating a brighter future for India in the area of food and consumer safety solutions and collaborative research.
