Govt notifies commonly used medical devices as drugs

The Union Government has notified four commonly used medical devices including nebulisers, blood pressure monitors, digital thermometers and glucometers as drugs under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

The decision will enable the government to ensure their quality and performance. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) will regulate the import, manufacture and sale of these devices from January 2020.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has lined up a slew of relaxations for new-age ventures to kick-start listing of start-ups in India in a big way.

The regulator has proposed to rename Institutional Trading Platform (ITP) as Innovators Growth Platform (IGP)

Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Pune from January 9, 2019

Khelo India Youth Games-2019 will be held in Pune of Maharashtra from the 9th to 20th of January 2019.

It is estimated that 9000 youth will participate in this mega event.

It will cover college students, taking the age group from under-17 to under-21, this would be a big jump from the 3750 athletes who competed in the Khelo India School Games earlier this year.

Ideate for India- Creative Solutions using Technology” - National challenge for youth launched by Meity

The Minister for Electronics & IT, Law & Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad, launched a National Challenge for Youths, “Ideate for India – Creative Solutions using Technology”, at New Delhi on 7 Dec.

The aim of this National Challenge is to give school students across the country a platform and opportunity to become solution creators for the problems they see around them and their communities.

“Ideate for India” will empower and enable these students to transition from being ‘users’ of technology to become ‘creators’ of new indigenous technologies to solve local problems in their community by re-imagining solutions to work out critical local issues.
